Are they Eating Dogs?

View Results
Yes they are eating them, i would eat them too
Yes they are eating them, but i am against it
No they are not eating them

Aww, this thread is cute. Op doesn't understand that which animals you value as companions and which you value as meat is mostly arbitrary and that dogs have no more right not to be eaten than pigs.

That said, I have never eaten dog, never intend to. I grew up in a culture where it was taboo and regardless of my intellectual argument for and understanding that a dog has no more of a right to not be raised for food than a pig I would get the feelz prolly.

Similarly, I know intellectually that there's no rational basis for such bias but still I get the feelz when a citizen of Deutschland starts yakking about the implicit or explicit superiority of one living entity over another. Or maybe there is a rational bias for that.

I totally agree with you. I absolutely adore animals. Have had dozens over the course of my life, but if you think about it logically, Dogs & Cats don't have any more right to live than a Pig, Chicken or Cow.

I would even say the same about Fish, but for some reason people feel they're an exception to the rule.

Some people don't even consider fish as meat. I get raw meat when I kill Piranhas in Ark: Survival Evolved though :D

One could argue about the value of an animal like dogs--an animal we can train to do a ton of awesome jobs like assist the vision-impaired, track criminals on the run, sniff out bomb-making materials... there's even a commercial that runs locally about Roscoe the Bed Bug Sniffing Dog.

It would seem to be difficult for some other species of animal to be as awesome as dogs, but cats, ferrets, ducks, parrots, monkeys and mini-horses all work as service animals.

But yeah, personally, if someone makes the service animal argument for a species, that has more weight for me than mere cuteness. Lamb are cute as shit and most people who eat meat that I've known will eat lamb.

The real question is, do they really eat human babies?

I just argued this with friend as well.

Better to be killed for food than out of hatred, here in my country some people kill dog just because they are noisy, they will throw poisonous meat so the dog will eat it and die, sometimes it's the radical Muslims because dog is considered "najis" and touching them will make you "unclean". Sometimes its just the wicked who kill Dogs or cats because it bother them.
Animal being eaten by human sounds bad but being hunted for their tusk, fin, skin, etc or worst thing like put in a show for a matador to tortured surely that is worst than eating animals that is considered domesticated.

*I've tried eating a dog meat, not a fan so I stop eating, never try a cat meat before and not really interested.

In many south pacific cultures they considered it not just acceptable but laudable to kill and eat asians.

Cave in their skull and eat their brain while they're still alive! It's a delicacy!

It wouldn't be PC to criticize their traditional culture would it?

It's traditional! Anybody who objects is a racist!

Of course the result was the spread of what is now known as Creutzfeldt–Jakob Disease aka Mad Cow Disease.

It turns out that all meat eating animals share many more parasites and diseases with humans than herbivores do and the very worst thing to eat from a safety point of view is other humans.

Carnivores also have a very poor yield on calories in vs calories out.

The safest and most efficient meat to eat is generally fish but pollution and overfishing have severely damaged world yields (peaked in 1987!).

PS - people who claim insects are high yield for humans are mistaken because most of their protein is not digestible by humans and they also harbor many parasites that can infect humans.

Uh, there are very few cultures that regularly engage in cannibalism, and it's certainly not a "South Pacific" thing.

Piglets are so cute, though they're tasty too.
