It has no sense for me. Multiple accounts from one IP is normal when you have roomate/brother/sister/dad etc. using Steam and living with you.
Multiple accounts are forbiden mostly on free sites and games because u can unfairy carry your main account but Steam is a shop. So it's ridiculous for me.

it's not the case - he was involved into a lot of real-money transactions to profit out of steam - buying TF2 keys for PayPal, selling purchased games on local market for real money profit etc - and most likely that's what got him banned, not multiple accounts :>

INSERT "BUT WHY" GIF HERE

I still don't understand why one would have more than 1 account. I can perhaps understand a 2nd one, if a person for example only wants "good" games on the main, or if the 2nd is actually of a smaller family member... otherwise I don't get it.
Also, what do the rules say about multiple accounts? If not allowed, then I guess the inevitable simply happened lol

for example allowing multiple people in the same household to play games at the same time. HAving alt accounts for coop games only, so you could organize lan parties for your friends. Farming Trading Cards for your duplicate games. Going around limited-purchase-restriction (you may only buy 5 copies of the same item per hour on steam store, if there's a price error, you may wish to use multiple accounts to buy more than 5 copies befre bug gets fixed) and many more.

not a bad idea
limited-purchase-restriction seems risky though, unless you have many bank accounts
however, I'd say only a douche would be active on steamgifts giveaways with alt accounts

You can't have more than 1000 items in CSGO.
Very annoying when you want to keep hundreds of old cases to sell them in 2017 with like 30 times profit.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

how would it make 30 times profit?!?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You buy today for 3 cents, wait for 2017 (or maybe even 2016), sell for 1€ (well, 1.15€ due to Valve Market Tax).
You just need to know CSGO market and all.

That's why "vault account" is useful - you drop those 1000 cases there and don't look at account for a year, allowing your main account to not be cluttered.

sure, bu why would the price increase? people stop playing? but then shouldn't both supply and demand fall equally?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

old cases are no longer avaiable -> old skins can no longer be dropped -> people buy cases, there are less and less of them so price rises -? in time a lot of ppl stop playing, they never sell their skins and cases, less and less old skins on the market -> ppl having old skins see they price increases so won't sell them for lesser money maing prices even higher -> as old skins get more expensive and only way to get them is to buy them or drop from case or heavilly overpay. As there are much less cases and they contain much more expensive skins now, their value rises a lot.

You should only enter to win giveaways for yourself, and if you win a game, it must be activated and redeemed to the Steam account used during registration.

So i am really interested what they would pull forward as a reason for that restriction.

99% of the time they will not give you an answer what rule exactly you broke. It's because if you were doing malicious stuff and you got such a reply it could lead you to assume how you got caught and you could use this knowledge to avoid detection in the future.

As for the reason for your restriction - as you said you were trading a whole lot - did you ever traded vs paypal or any form of real money instead of steam items? If yes this may be the case.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well the only thing that involves my paypal and steam besides buying games from steam.. is paying for tf2 keys with my paypal to key traders. They are all serious ppl with a lot of reputation. but i don't believe this is the case cause those traders are well known with serious money invested in theyr accounts. Fallowing the same logic they should be restricted also.
The other reason why i don't think this is the reason is because all of my accounts was restricted...even those with no trade history.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

it doesn't matter if traders are well known or not. Any trades on steam must be only for other steam items. Using Paypal for steam trading is against the rules if you trade with a lvl 1 newbie who never traded befre just the same as if you are trading with trader who made thousands of transactions.
And for "all other accounts" - if you get restricted for rulebreaking on one account all your accounts associated with it gets restricted as well. Otherwise for example you could keep making alt accounts, use them to scam, transfer scammed goods to main account that "never did anything wrong", get alt banned and keep the profit. Rinse and repeat.

Mmmmh... well you cant have several accounts on steamgifts so beware of that because you could get suspended here too xD...

On the other hand, its weird you got suspended... you could say that the other accounts are from family or friends that live with you and you all share the same computer... so i dont know... you will have to wait for steam support...

steam doesn't ban for multiple accounts ;) never heard of ANYONE getting banned ONLY for multiple accounts. Other story is that if you're using alts to break rules, like for example scam, and to keep your main safe you will get all accounts associated with your IP banned, not only the ones that broke the rules.

he probably is not telling us the whole story, but who I am to judge ;)

Also if any of my accounts was convicted in fraud i would post a different picture of that automatic msg system. It says that this account is simple convicted in fraud and that's why restricted. I am just convicted in violating terms of service.

"you don't know how many people in the past came asking for opinions without telling whole story ;) so you coming here proves nothing ;p"

Reminds me of one CSGO cheater that was reddit-screaming "I'm innocent, I'm innocent" after getting VACation. One of CSGO devs came, they started private talk, and after that, said CSGO dev went to that thread to show people video where it clearly showed said cheater is cheater.

Cheater - totally cool and in good mood - responded with something like "oh well, hoped you'll not check demos that properly, not my day, see ya people on servers with my new account".

I remember a guy creating a topic about how he got unfairly trade banned on his main. After a little conversation and background check it turned out his alt was doing chargeback scam and he tried to get away with it activating scammed game on his main that "was clean" and "never scammed anyone" ;) Even better - it turned out this alt was registered on SG as well and he even tried using it for CV fraud. It didn't work? he already had 2 more alrs ready and preparing 2 more keepieng all in the same group :D:

Long story short - guy started a topic without telling whole story, hoping to get some magical advice that will get him unbanned - he ended not only trade-banned on steam but all his accounts permabanned on SG as well. He must've had a really bad day :D:

both. You have to activate each and every won game on your account. You may not give them away (regifting), trade them away (trading wins) or activate on another account (not activating). All are rule breaking and all are explained in SG rules and FAQ.

Yes you did actually broke the rules already. 5 times.

That may be the case most likely. If you traded for money outside of steam OP then that would explain the ban, question is - who sold you out.

No. I was buying keys with my paypal so i can exchange them for games..and then sell the games in sites and some forum ppl located in my country. Steam wallet does not interests me. It does only when i have to load some funds in order to buy games in promotions.

"sell the games in sites and some forum ppl located in my country" and did you sell those games only for keys? Or were you accepting things outside of steam? Not just Paypal, but any for of real-life currency. For example simple bank transfer. Because if you're totaly not intrested in steam wallet, playing yourself etc - I don't see any profit for you here.

Then you broke very serious steam rules aout reselling and will not get unbanned.
It also mean that you are a dirty liar, because I asked the same question before, I directly asked for any real money transactiona and you said you never ever sold anything from steam for real money. And you said no, only ever was buying keys for real money, never selling anything :> So like I said before - you were not telling us the whole story :> Whole story - you broke several steam rules, including very serious offense - reselling steam items outside of steam for real money profit. Thus all your account got restricted and they will remain restricted. Steam wil not unbann reseller.

Once again case got solved by our trustable SG Detectives :D:

Good detective skills :D

I have one question for you if you don't mind (pure curiosity). I suppose you know Tremor Games. That site uses bots to trade TF2 Keys (and lots of other game items) for nothing. I mean: you give keys to the bot and the site rewards you with coins. And with those coins you can buy games on the site.

The question is, how can their bots receive thousands of keys daily without being suspended?

And they also use bots for rewarding with Steam gifts, keys, etc. (exchanged for coins from the site). But Steam only see an account giving away hundreds of games (steam gifts) for nothing. Doesn't it fire their alarms?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

the answer is pretty simple ;) they take their risks. They do not keep all the keys and gifts on the same account. They have them distributed among many many accounts. If one account gets busted - it happens, it's risk calculated - they gift=coin value is inflated enough to pay for such a risk. Also keep in mind that a lot of their transactions are for activation keys and Steam has no way to track activation keys.

There's been examples in the past of big bot accounts getting banned (I know of few TF2/CS:GO key selling/buying bots and GameMiner bot which resulted of them losing all games people were giving away and they never fully stood back after that), so nowadays it's all either done with link exchange or with a lot of smaller accounts scattered.

AQlso steam is not really monitoring market 24/7 and banning any strange transaction - there are too many trades every day and too little people on suport. OP was most likely reported to steam by some of hist competition. He can no longer resell his games, his competition will have thus more customers. It's not so easy to report certain account when all you have is email adress or link to receive your reward ;)

I thought so. Sorry to say to you, you're busted friend. Somebody didn't like you sell games there, probably your competition. Ending of the story quite fits, you broke one of the major rules of steam.

I am busted ? I told everyone here about my activities myself without hiding anything. zeghadis didn't discover anything i didn't want you to know. Yes i buy keys for real money..yes i sell games for real money .. yes i invest all the money back to steam..yes many more ppl do that to gain some money. If i broke some rules doing that..that means really really a lot of ppl are breaking rules. I don't scam anyone in my life with money, keys or games..and pity you trying to put me on the same plate with scammers. NVM..none of my steam accounts most probably wont be retrieved because of this key trading/buying.
I've posted here with the hope to get some info about my problem..but i've met hatred and some "great detective" that discovers what ppl are telling him straight. Thank you very much.

"paying for tf2 keys with my paypal to key traders". - this might be a reason.
Why?

1) Said traders might have their keys from fraudulent trades - like scammer scammed someone and then went with those keys to those legit traders.
2) You bought said keys for paypal - which means Steam only see one way trade, where you gain keys and lose nothing.
3) After trade, scammer was found and keys got on "watchlist".
4) For Steam, trader is suspicious because he used those "watchlist" keys.
5) For Steam, you are fence used by trader to get rid of stolen goods.

Was that what happened? I don't know. But I do know there used to be "key trade bots" accounts - where you could exchange your CSGO key into another CSGO key (as nearly every case need different type of key) - that were flagged and banned (and after long fight unbanned) as they were suspected of being fences.

Why all of those guys keep posting like they did nothing wrong and it's only big bad guy steam who blocks their own clients from generating money for them?

Listen, do you know any company that rejects selling you any goods to make profit for no reason? If company decides to potentially lose money out of transactions with you, it means THEY HAVE PRETTY GOOD REASON FOR DOING SO.

For example losing money, from your reselling.

End of story.

well - the truth is that if you got busted already you have nothing to lose. You get caught on your lies? You end up in the same situation you were before, aka banned. So they hope that maybe there is some chance for the solution, for getting out. For them - there's either small chance for good result, big chance for nothing at all and no chance for it getting any worse ;)
