^Edit: Updated filter! Congrats to the single person who made it through the last one!

Even if you're not interested in, or already own the game, do leave a comment if you're able to pass the current filter; There's a potential bonus prize for those who can pass it. I'll likely change the above filter once I've finished playing around with it, so those who are interested in the game in question should check back in a few days for a somewhat more lenient filter.

In the meantime, do feel free to comment on any new interesting events, tv shows, memes, etc in your lives~ ^.^
Netflix released Arthurian legend-based show "Cursed" on the 17th, so let's see if that ends up being any good..

I've been watching HBO's reboot of Perry Mason. Not so much a reboot as a complete re-imagining. It's a dark, gritty noir, set in a flawlessly conceived Depression era LA (probably showrunner Tim Van Patten of Boardwalk Empire fame had something to do with that) and - I don't get to say this often - it's outstanding. I didn't even like Matthew Rhys, whose acting in The Americans left a lot to be desired, but he really steps up in this, so I've had to radically change my opinion. Well, I'm probably over selling it, but anyone who appreciates good noir/detective stories should not miss this.

And yes, I failed.

Hmm. You definitely make it sound a whole lot better than the previews suggested, especially considering I wasn't ever really sold on the original series to begin with. I'll try and make the time to at least give the pilot episode a try. :)

I'd say it has more in common with LA Confidential or True Detective than it does with the original series if that helps:)

Nope! Usually I pass secret rules but not this time :) Not that I'm interested in otome anyway.

There is one month until university begins for me. I'm going to move away from home and begin a new chapter in my life, which feels a bit scary because I'm still attached to my past in high school. I'm not going far though, I'm going to live a 1 hour car ride away from my family and I have classmates from high school attending another university close to mine, but I'm having trouble being forced to let go of my past because I now have to go on a new, unfamiliar and uncertain path so to say.

Interesting events? Well, I'm going to buy a new apartment, but won't have enough money for proper renovation. I have mixed feelings about it.

Failed. But here's something interesting in my life. I've always wanted to play table top role playing games and last week, I tried out my first session of Pathfinder with 6 other people on SG Discord (online using roll20).

Playing a Halfling-Druid with high charisma, Dex, and Wisdom, and low Strength. I'm the healer right now. My druid familiar animal Capybara, "Chappy" is my damage dealer frontman. At first, my party was like Chappy is gonna be our living rations, if we run out of food. Now he's sort of our animal mascot, so hopefully we can keep him alive.

I don't plan to always be in the back shooting my -2 dmg sling (so weak I might accidentally heal my enemies ;). Once my character reaches level 4, I'll get the wild form ability, letting me shape-change into any animal. That'll will be fun. Funnily enough, I didn't even read any of the other races or job classes, and just knew I wanted to be a Hobbit who could talk to animals. Had no idea, I'd actually get the ability to become one!

a Hobbit who could talk to animals

Sounds like a [core variant] gnome, actually. On that note, I'm disappointed that gnomes in DDO don't get their racial animal-oriented benefits (which exist in the game's 3rd Edition Eberron setting the same way they existed in previous editions). They didn't even go with the fun [Dragonlance] Tinker Gnome variant. Near as I can tell, they went with the somewhat minimalistic 5th Edition conceptualization. In a word: Lame.

Arcane familiars are fun, though, since they can have human-level mechanical intelligence and comprehension skills [as in most settings, they're considered either imbued creatures or magical variants, rather than just bonded natural creatures], effectively giving you an additional party member. Druids, on the other hand.. well, there's really only one route to go with druids and animal companions:

Ah I haven't actually played DDO, but now that I've had a little taste of playing Pathfinder 1st ed, it might be fun to play someday.
Totally agree my animal companion is basically a second character :] I sometimes feel bad that I basically get twice the turns as my other party members. Well we have a ranger who will get an animal companion at Level 4. I wonder what he's going to pick.

Squirrel Girl! The unbeatable character. Maybe if I knew her secret, I'd be just as unbeatable. In all seriousness, that would probably drive the GM a little squirrely.

I'd recommend installing DDO sometime before August 31st, so you can apply the coupon (which expires at that point) to permanently unlock all the adventure content [aside from the content associated with the two most recent expansions]. Not that you'd need to play it before then, but it's good to have the content unlocked for when/if you ever get around to having the time to properly try it out. :)

Thanks for sharing I'll take a look. I'm a bit hesitant since I'm scared of getting into MMOs. I have a very addictive personality. I once got in over my head.

Comment has been collapsed.

Hmm. Well, DDO is bizarre, in that it's as terrible at overpriced, unscrupulous microtransactions as the worst MMOs out there.. but at the same time, is generous enough with in-game premium currency provision that one can play entirely for free. It's also entirely playable solo [some few specific quests and raids aside], so the MMO aspects can mostly be skipped, if desired. Given your circumstances, might be best to stay away regardless of specifics, but maybe those details can help you firm up your considerations one way or the other. :)

Also failed.

I spent the entirety of last week without internet, phone, or TV, thanks to a FiOS disaster that took far too long for Verizon to fix. So that was exciting, in a very not-exciting way. Only had a fading cell phone, with almost no signal in my basement apartment. I played Return to Mysterious Island.

Well, today I decided to try my hand at pixelart again after my recent SG drawing contest success (thanks MBcoder!)
I'll try to create a "scene" from my most played game for a contest they have going.
Fingers crossed I finish it :P

As for series, I'm watching Penny Dreadful, it ain't dreadful, yet quite dreadful at times...

Both Penny Dreadful and Hemlock Grove are good, but really dry. Makes them rather hard to watch in large batches, and the inability to do that can make it hard to remember to keep up with a given series. Carnival Row is a bit different in its structure [being less outright dry, but also being more abstract in plotting and irregular in pacing], but has similar considerations. More than that, it's far drier than one'd expect given its casting. I definitely find myself more drawn to relaxing over engaging these days, both in film/tv and gaming, but they're certainly good shows to watch when I'm up for something a bit more demanding.

Until Umbrella Academy 2 finally releases anyway ;)

Well, I totally missed both too and considering Charlize Theron is in it, that's surprising because I'm sure there was a lot of news about it and I am a comic book reader so that says a lot about how disconnected the whole 2020 has been for me lol
You'll enjoy it for sure!

Watched some of cursed it is alright, but im starting to watch Daredevil on Netflix again since Disney will get the rights back in 6 months and do not want to forget. May enter mmm, probably will since I'll forget in 3 hours.

Cursed seems decent, but it is not the greatest show out there. It seems like a retelling of the king arthurs tale from the point of view of the lady of the lake. It is okay, the villains are pretty straightforward, if you wear red you are bad. Lack of magic for a show about magic, not saying there is none, but mostly flashbacks or magic that is not that obvious besides the plants.

I watched the Old Guard as well and recommend it over Cursed, as it is more fun and more interesting.

Hell yeah! Cursed is very generic, unfortunately. If you're interested in magic and alternate history though, I recommend Motherland: Fort Salem. I skipped it entirely when it was airing because hm... Freeform and teenagers, you know. But my lady has twisted my arm and it's damn good. And no love triangle in sight or anything.

It's actually surprising because the promos made it look like one of those Hunger Games girlpower teenage shows but it's a very complex alternate history universe. The usual teenage drama is pretty much absent, which is good already but the story is intricate.

I've started on the final season of Dark. I didn't want to rewatch the first 2 seasons but it would have been helpful to keep it all fresh in my head as it does get a bit confusing.

That's certainly my issue with keeping up with shows..
It's also why I intentially stopped watching certain shows [eg, Stranger Things after the first season] with a mind to just rewatch/watch the entire series once it completes. [Not even meaning that I'm binging it- just watching it all somewhat close together, enough so that I don't lose track of the narrative or important side details in it.] A lot easier, that way.

I've been trying to avoid watching TV recently because I'm just sick of the whole corona stuff and by extension also taking a break on shows, just games and a bunch of youtube, but I broke my phone today and I don't have the money for a new one so I guess I'll be watching TV again when I'm not at the PC.

Yeah the news just keep getting more and more bizarre and worrying, sometimes I wonder if we're actually heading into some sort of downfall of the current era. Hopefully next year is less awful that 2019 and 2020, I've kinda given up on things normalizing themselves before the end of the year.
