So I built a computer in January and my power bill for November and December was only 95 or so dollars, January and February bill came to 250 dollars. There should be no way that just because I have a new computer that the power bill should have doubled. I'm thinking about buying a wattage testing from amazon for 5 bucks to check my computer, because that is ridiculous and I no longer have any extra money for games for awhile.

Is this normal? should I call and be like wtf? I don't even...

It's probably because if the company rep can't physically read your meter, they estimate it for that month.
Then when they come by the next month and read it, they read the difference between the estimate and the real amount.
It can jump drastically up and down between estimated months and actual readings.

For instance, my gas bill last month was $75 (they estimated), but because I actually used less than that, when they did an actual reading the following month, my bill ended up being $11 for this month ...

Power bills go up in winter since the house heater runs more often when it's cold outside

Valid point. May also compare this month's gas bill with previous months.

illegal taps sometimes happen, if you turn off all the breakers in your home and there is still power being used there might be an issue.

Any annual cost on that bill? It is the start of the year.

Anyways it ended up being the meter guy read the meter wrong by a whole 1000 kilowatt hours so now my bill should be under 100 bucks and I can afford to buy a bundle although I don't know which yet, or when might just wait a bit.
