I included a Steam key to Wasteland 3 in the description section by mistake and it was gone in less than 30 seconds.

All I can say, enjoy your Christmas Miracle you fast lucker :) No hard feelings, my mistake, I wanted to give it away anyway :)

I almost done that myself a few times, especially don't do such stuff right after you wake up and feel groggy.

I made the same mistake more than once, though never with one of the better games like Wasteland 3. ;)

Im not so sure about making them happy. If they didnt even thank you, I guess they wouldnt even care for a +1 or trading the key.

Highly likely it was a bot. Sadness.

I mean, they could at least have the decency to say thank you, but that's not how bots function ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I'm quite sure that the ESGST extension will warn you if it detects that you accidentaly put a key in the comments section, or at least I hope I'm not misremembering.

Also the "lucker" was a bot no doubt.

Here is a <3 so you can feel a little better and I would suggest ESGST with 3.35 option enabled
Quote from ESGST:

When you click on "Review Giveaway" in the new giveaway page (also extends to the "Create Giveaway" button from 3.26 Giveaway Templates and the "Add" button from 3.34 Multiple Giveaway Creator), this feature checks if there are possible Steam keys / Humble Bundle gift links in the description and warns you about it, in case you pasted them there by mistake.
This feature replaces the native "Review Giveaway" button, so that ESGST can intercept the click.

Probably a bot.
Never happened to me but I once pasted a key into a GA key form right before sending it... and it was actually a key I meant to activate for myself.
Ofc that one time, the GA winner activated in the next minute... and ended up with a free copy of Tekken 7.
I was damn sure I had copied the other key in between but oh well. You live you learn.
