Hello. Sorry for that awful play on words, but I'm getting nuts here. I'm out of luck and Google gives nothing much, so since Steamgifts' a pretty big community, I thought I might as well ask here for help.

Did any of you actually manage to use Hamachi with Age of Empires II? I can't no matter what I do. I opened AOE II ports, Hamachi ports, have a static IP and adjusted the metric values. Also Hamachi virtual connection has priority over the rest, and it's the same for the other PC I'm trying to play with.
What the hell is wrong? We can communicate with each other alright, are able to ping each other locally, but it's still not working.

We can see each other's games, but that's about it. No way to join in, it always says something amongst the lines of "Unable to join, go plough yourself".

I don't think it supports hamachi as it was made before hamachi

Hamachi is just used as a virtual local network, no game really supports Hamachi. :P

http://chessbloggaz.blogspot.de/2008/10/age-of-empires-ii-ber-hamachi-spielen.html use googles translate function. Hamachi shouldnt be the problem. Are you sure you both have the same version?

Affirmative. Age of Empires Conquerors with the same patch. Although it's not the same language, but I don't see how that would be a problem... he's playing in french while I'm playing in english.

well you could always try tunggle, although hamachi probably aint the problem. But why translate that stuff and try some fixes when tunngle might just solve the problem

Heh... I guess that's the last thing I gotta try. This, and gameranger, and some other program. Thing is, is it as "simple" as Hamachi? Can I use my own custom server, even if small?

not sure. Many ppl prefer tunngle over hamachi,i never used it. I hardly use hamachi, too. Whenever a game has a netplay option I use that if possible

I considered that option too, but no one seems to mention it everywhere I look. As DonVino said, I think it already used TCP/IP. Well at least that's what the game mentions.

Yep! I pretty much covered everything... and it seems I'm not the only one in this case.
