Will you buy/play it next month?
HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE

FINALLY! Itβs going to be hard to wait for a sale/ any post-launch content but this is super exciting!

So excited! I've decided long ago to replay the first one once again when the release will be actually close. So I got a nice evening of wandering Hollownest today. And damn the game is amazing! I know that, and yet I always get surprised with just HOW great it is!

I'm buying it ASAP. Hollow Knight is one of only six games in my favorites category, and I'm sure Silksong will be the seventh.

I recently played the first Hollow Knight, like earlier this month recently, so it's nice to see them coming up with a followup so soon. I'm fully aware that this has been delayed for years but I find it legitimately funny that right after I finally got around to playing the first one they announce the release date for the long awaited sequel like a week after I finish it, it's like they were waiting for me specifically XD

Silksong will cost only $19.99 / 19.50β¬, which is pretty surprising. Personally I expected 25-30.
Also original HK broke all-time peak today - 66k users. Before Silksong announcement there was 8-9k players every day and peak before that was over 3 years ago with only 20k.

Sorry I get board with the very quickly but I hope it's worth the wait for people interested

I also don't get it. I think some people just find the most popular thing and then make it even more popular instead of trying new things. They then associate greatness with that regardless if it is. Maybe it's so they have something relevant to talk about.
Edit: Like the top reviews on steam aren't about the game. They're about memes or how popular the game is.

at least i was able to add it to cart, now waiting for possibility to checkout :D

"There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance."
The wait continues...
I'm at work so even if I could buy it now, I can't play till I get home... but I want it in the library ASAP π

This one looks a lot better to me.

While I get the hype for this game, the first Hollow Knight is one of the best metroidvanias I've played, why is everyone so desperate to buy and play it day one? It's not like the game will only be available today. Genuinely kinda confused.

Yeah but the game will still be there tomorrow, and it's not like those buying it today will be able to finish it before this weekend and spoilers are probably gonna start in a matter of hours, so why even deal with Steam's brokenness instead of just waiting for tomorrow?
Also the whole not sending early codes to reviewers is a red flag to me, I wasn't planning on buying it day one anyway but learning about that means that now I'm definitely waiting for reviews to start rolling out.

I have planned in advance to play it right away and had free time, I suppose that is the case with majority of users. There is no reason to wait in that case. Steam was broken for me about 2 minutes; bought the game at 16:01, acitvated key and started downloading at 16:04, and was already in-game at 16:07. Probably because I activated a key from Humble and didn't try to buy it on Steam directly which had problems with processing payments. No reason not to utilise 20% Choice discount when I already have the option.
No codes in advance could be red flag ofc. but there is no reason to worry with Team Cherry, believe me. The same would apply to Supergiant Games for example and many other proven developers.
User reviews are excellent which was expected, overwhelmingly positive if you exclude Chinese review bombing.

Hype and wanting to be part of the discussion/event. Most wishlisted game and all that, and many people did wait so long they "can't wait anymore"
I don't want to buy day one only because I wouldn't be able to actually sit and play it today, but unless I win it somewhere, I will be buying it this month and let's playing the whole thing for my partner, like I did with first game :3

Yeah that's what I don't get, treating a single player game like an event, I'm too used to playing games years after they release. To be fair I sometimes try to jump into a game during the first week, but if it's a paid game I almost always wait for reviews to show up first, and when I learned that Silksong wouldn't be sending early codes to reviewers I started having some serious doubts.
I imagine this game might be a nice one to play with someone, the classic playing until you get killed and then passing the controller to the other person.

Honestly the hype is at the same level of gta 6, Silksong has been a meme for over 6 years at this point, making the game 20β¬ just gives 0 reasons to not buy it if you have already played the OG, even more in this day and age where people just love to spoil things in a couple hours after something new comes out. I'm not into the hype train as I've never played HK myself, but as an outsider, if a sequel of a game I really liked came out after 6-7 years and it was 20β¬, I would buy it day 1 and play it, maybe even leave work earlier for that.
Oh and also the game doesn't need a day 1 patch to fix stuff, because the game works and is completed on launch, something that some other companies should re-learn :)

That's the thing, if it's anything like the first game then it's a pretty involved experience, it took me like three weeks to get through HK, unless people are planning to lock themselves in their room and marathon the thing in a couple of days there's no way to be faster than the spoilers. So what's the difference between starting today or waiting for Steam to not be broken and buying it during the weekend?

Well, you can watch that anime you like when it releases, or you can watch it tomorrow or next year.
Or maybe you'll wait so long that you'll never get around to watching it.
The thing is, it's fantastic to do it when everyone is talking about it so that you can join in the conversation too. Expedition 33, for example, is tremendously enjoyable, and discussing it with players makes it even more enjoyable, at least from my point of view.

for me, I don't mind waiting, but I understand a lot of people not wanting spoilers, even if it takes them longer to finish than others. Even I sometimes buy a game that I want to avoid spoilers at all costs, nothing that needs dozens/hundreds of hours to get through like HK and SIlksong probably need, but I do it too like once a year. Also if you have friends/family that are playing the game today, usually you don't want to feel left out of the conversations around the game, so you end up buying and playing too today.
There's always a lot of reasons.

Metroidvanias are one of the favorite genres and in my opinion the original Hollow Knight is one of the greatest Metroidvanias ever made, so I'm very happy to see it launch. I watched a bit of gameplay so far and it looks fantastic. On top of it the game has almost 12k reviews with an Overwhelmingly positive rating so there's no question for me that it's worth the purchase at full price.

I thought it was going to be $30. I was surprised to see it was only $20.

The game oozes of polish, tight gameplay and cute characters/dialogues. I beat the first boss last night at 4am and fight was sooo great. Simple one really, but so well designed; I had a smile on my face the whole time. Chinese review bombing kinda irks me a bit, but what you gonna do. Recent Steam update to user reviews is made for situations like this I suppose.
Cheering for Team Cherry to broke million concurrents for the weekend.

I think the main thing is translation quality. Imagine what would happen if there would be no support for it at all...
About ~75% of all negatives are theirs (52% positive), while in all other languages the lowest is 91% (also Chinese, but Traditional).
