Yeah well, if people would STOP searching for bugs, games would ALL be better. But hey, they have to find bungs intentionally and ruin them, why not?

That is already coming with the next patch. source

Though still no word about roll / backstep parries, 60fps issues, removal of soul memory, scaling, general balancing.

General balancing is happening all the time and soul memory won't be removed since it's integrated, get used to it.

SM is will make the game more and more empty as time goes on. Low level coop is dead and high level is pants on head retarded because every "build" will consist of having 99 on every stat and Havels. Have fun with the current meta.

I'm not saying I agree, because it's ridiculous. But I don't think they will change it anymore at this point. And I'm not sure why they differed from the original system either. The connectivity has improved drastically and getting involved in multiplayer is much easier, but like you said they fucked up the rest

The only problem of ds 2, wich is a game that I personally LOVE, is pvp: some weapons are unbalanced, some covenants are just stupid, lag is triplicated, weapons have phantom ranges and the community is full of assholes. Plus, the clipping of mobs with other things is just... disgusting? And I would add that backstab has been totally ruined

I'm going to regurgitate some speculation I saw earlier about the roll/backstep parries, binoboost, and skywalking. So take this with a grain of salt.

In Dark Souls 1, you couldn't cancel animations. If you entered a fog door, you couldn't roll out or be hit out of the animation. When you opened a door, you were locked into the animation and were invincible until it finished (you couldn't roll out of it). In Dark Souls II, though, they added animation cancelling. You can roll out of door opening animations (I don't know about rolling out of fog doors, but you can certainly be hit out of them). But the thing is, some weird things happen with the engine when you cancel these.

Let's look at each of the exploits mentioned:

  • Roll/backstep parries: You can cancel the parry animation and replace it with a roll. The parry frames still exist, and you get a free roll/backstep. It's pretty simple.
  • Binoboost: While zooming with binoculars, you start a parry and replace it with a roll. Not quite sure how this one works, to be honest, but it's likely that the animation cancelling has something to do with it.
  • Skywalking: After parrying an opponent, rolling and attacking (to get the riposte) will let you walk on air and freeze the opponent on the ground. The timing is pretty much frame perfect. It seems like the roll lets you move around while letting you inherit certain qualities you usually only get when riposting. The ability to walk on air is probably something the code used to position your character when performing the riposte.

I'm not even sure why I wrote this all out. Maybe I was trying to say that fixing those glitches is going to require some modification to the engine? shrug

Whatever, the more you know, I guess.

I guess I'll just wait for a sale and to see if they add a version with all the dlcs. I hope this is an actual expansion and not those horrible dlcs.

Goddamn it i still haven't finished the game.

Also, a season pass for DS2 is the last thing I expected

Do. Want.
I hope they add in some kind of PVP covenant that allows for DS1 style soul level matchmaking though (+/- 10% SL). Soul Memory is ok, but it kinda falls apart once people have their characters to the point of a cohesive build as you slowly edge in to other memory ranges.

I hope the price/content ratio will be good. I still have to finish DS1 and DS2, but boy am I hyped!

I am a little worried about the price to be honest. £20 is pretty steep for a season pass (UK).

thats why i hope it has lots of content to make it up for.

If the content is anything close to the size and level of design of the Prepare to Die DLC for DS1 I will be happy, but they will need to work a lot harder on world design than they did for the base game of DS2

I'm not really calling out or anything, but this is pretty much against what they said before.

I'm guessing it only took a look at their sales figures for them to decide they could milk more out of DS2

Who could blame them, honestly? That's a basic rule of supply and demand : there's demand so we supply.

Yup, and I will almost certainly buy. As much as I prefer DS1 over 2, I still like 2 very much and wouldnt mind more.

Dark Souls DLC was the best part of the game, imo.

I only played it after the DLC came out, but I felt it complemented the base game nicely with more in-depth lore to Artorias, Sif and the dragon hunters. Nice new areas, enemies and bosses. I didn't think there was a lesser moment in it's duration, where the base game had some minor slumps, so it was stronger in it's consistency for sure.
Still, I'm waiting this one out. Looking at that release schedule they look alot smaller in comparison.

The game really need major expansion because it gets boring after the first playthrough. I hope they will reduce the number of bonfires and they need to stop making bosses that wield sword right handed with same move set.

Edit: What. They sell season pass now? 25$? The game was a hit, why do they need to do this.

It's a season pass... 25$

I love the Souls series but man Dark Souls 2 was a let down to me. (I blame the B-Team.) I haven't finished the game. Haven't even played it in weeks. Not sure if I will pick up the season pass...

I guess this explains why Dark Souls 2 went on sale so quickly on PSN (Currently 38.99$)

With the world map is just bunch of areas patched together with empty hallways, flight of stairs and long boring lift ride, the DLCs will make it even worse.

I hope they will remove soul memory and use soul level instead to determine pvp and stuff. I didn't know about that and I was using a level 100 character for quite some time, pvp was becoming kinda hard and I had no idea why. I really wish that I could get back all those souls I lost to Darklurker after my Ring of Life Protection shattered, it was almost 1000k souls. I will start another character just for pvp.

And I'm really happy with this Season Pass, but I would like to see some cool bosses instead of all those with shield and sword, there are too many of that and they are boring as hell! I want to see Tail weapons as well.
