Hello there!

So I'm still fairly new to this place, and I'm making plans to contribute once I can get my budget in order. (probably post Christmas is when I would be making a givaway, unsure the value besides the fact at minimum it'd be $20USD.)

However, i had a few questions the FAQ couldn't quite answer for me, and knowing the answers sooner will put my mind at ease and let me think more about what game(s) I'd like to give away.

(also, it seems to be a trend on this site to hide givaways in posts? My apologies but I don't have one in this post... if someone wants to hijack their own givaway link in here.... let me know I guess? I dunno how it works...)

First question; Is there a way to tell the difference between a "bundled" game and not? This one's not too important and probably wont affect my game choice all that much, but I'd like to know anyway....

Secondly, I've never actually bought a gift on steam before that wasn't directly through a friend list. How does it work when I buy via steam wallet?

Third, are there any games people tend to recommend for givaways? Like, is there a specific genre or company, etc. that is preferred by more users? (or ones I should avoid?) I'd assume credible games with higher amounts positive ratings are more welcome... right?

Finally, do I need to gift often to keep my level should I level up? I'm a simple high-school student who works part-time, so Its not like I have a ton of cash lying around to gift constantly...

Thank you for your time!

Thanks a ton! I was not expecting such a fast answer, but here you are!

I'll take a peek through that wishlist site, who knows, maybe some of the games I'm thinking of are there.

One last question I just though of, is it worse to make givaways for lesser value games than to go for the higher priced ones? or does it not matter at all?

Overall: no.
From CV perspective: only if you intend to giveaway multiple copies of the game; each copy of a sent game after the 5th gives slightly reduced CV, so it's technically more worth to giveaway more expensive games, but if you intend to make THAT many giveaways, funds shouldn't be a problem to you.

What you willing to give away, is absolutely up to you. You might want to buy a highly wanted game, to make someone happy, or to promote something. Or buy more smaller games to get more people a chance to win. If you want to increase your level, go for high discount, non-bundled games.

First: https://www.steamgifts.com/bundle-games
Second: you get an option to store a gift in your inventory when you purchase a game. You send it after the winner is chosen.
Third: not really, too many to list.
Fourth: level drops due to changed value shouldn't be much of a problem to you if you don't intend to give away only the newest games. Vast majority of the ones that have been around for a while should stay the same value, with few exceptions.

Thank you!

I didn't realize you could store games in your inventory, that's pretty cool!

First: There is a bundle games list that people have already mentioned - but keep in mind that games can be added it to it retroactively. If something seems like a really amazing deal then expect it to get added to the bundled games list at some point.
Second, third: Already answered very well.
Finally: People can sometimes lose CV if games are added to the bundled list, reduced in base price, etc - but it won't make a lot of difference for most people unless you are actively trying to exploit glitches, etc.

I'd like to add to number 2: due to new stream restrictions, not all games can be added to your inventory for gifting later. (If I'm not mistaken, all the VAC protected games can be gifted only directly, if at all). The option to add to inventory also won't appear in case of steam "bundles", in which you get a discount for games you already own. To give an example Civilization V complete is such a bundle (it can still be gifted if you buy key from a retailer though).
A small add to number 1: games usually get added to the bundle list if they are either in a bundle (high tier might be an exception though) or they cost 5% or less of the regular US price in any store from any region (for example, if a game is 90% off in the steam store, likely, the price for a copy in Russia will cost less than 5% of the US price without discount and thus will be added to the bundle list. Check https://steamdb.info/ for regional price info if you see something with very high discount).
