So first of all what you do here is amazing and i'm happy to see so many generous people. I try to join the giveaways only if i am interested in the game because i think that's fair to others...and now the question is, do you know where i should look for a guild wars 2 giveaway? There was a humble bundle for heroic edition not long ago but i think you share steam-only here and that is a stand-alone game. Me and a couple friends need extra copies the f2p restrictions are so tiresome and expansion is a bit too expensive for now.

Just asking to be directed to the correct place.

I've never seen a giveaway for Guild Wars 2. That's a rather specific request, I'm not sure what you expected as a reply to your thread. :P

If it is not steam you can not make gifts, you can try to look in the trades section in case someone has copies that you change by games

I am, it was just not funny nor helpful so i wondered why you even bothered with it. If my post said "guyz gimme this" it could be funny. I already knew this is not the place hence my post includes:

Just asking to be directed to the correct place.

I don't have to be feeling anything to tell that your post was meaningless :)

This is not a steam game so nothing you just said makes any sense.

Unless I'm mistaken, GW2 is not a steam game, and unfortunately this site only really deals with Steam based games (I wish they would expand to other platforms as well, but oh well).

Other than that, welcome to Steam gifts ^_^ We are generally a well kept community, and will be as respectful to you as you are to others. Keep in mind to make giveaways yourself when you can, for both to give back to the community as well as to up your level and gain access to more giveaways!

Most people won't mind if you enter a giveaway for the sake of entering, even if you don't have an interest in the game. Don't let the extra points you have goto waste! They cap at 300, making any extra you would have earned otherwise goto waste in the void of couldabeens.

There won't be a GA for Guild Wars 2, just as there never was or will be for any of the Guild Wars 1 games, as none are available on Steam or have ever been. That said, if you subscribe to the Guild Wars 2 newsletter they began putting the expansion (which includes the base game) on sale for $25. However, that's only if you purchase Heart of Thorns directly through the Guild Wars 2 site. I already had the base game since open beta and felt that the expansion was too expensive for that content alone. The first time the expansion went on sale (late last year) I had enough extra cash laying around to purchase it. The last sale was about a month ago.

That's my recommendation, Tyuu. I hope that helps you make a decision. Also, there aren't any f2p restrictions as, technically, the game isn't free to play as it must be purchased just like a "standard" game. There's simply no subscription.

Cheers!

Well, color me corrected. Thank you for pointing out both my error and ignorance on this matter. Is the only non-standalone expansion, Eye of the North, also available? It doesn't matter to me since I've owned all the games since they originally came out—all the Guild Wars games, especially Guild Wars 2 + Heart of Thorns, are, in my opinion, the best mmo games out there. However, others who come to this thread may want to know, oh wise one. ;P

Of the Guild Wars 1 line, the standalone expansion Nightfall, is my favorite.

Cheers!

The core game is free to play, the expansion is buy to play. Free to play portion involves restrictions and a heroic vanilla edition removes these restrictions while you still cannot access expansion content which was included in the humblebundle before new year.

I guess I don't understand what you're saying. I pre-ordered GW2 during open beta, i.e., I had to buy it, however, there is, and never has been, a subscription cost. The Heart of Thorns expansion you have to buy as well, though it includes the core game. Either way you still must buy the game. I've neither seen nor heard of the core game being free—as far as I'm concerned, purchasing the expansion which, at release, had little in the way of content, means that you are/were paying most of the initial $60 cost for the core game. They've been adding to the Heart of Thorns expansion's content as the Living Story Season 3 progresses. I think that, now, there are 4 new maps, however, at launch I believe it only had 2 new maps. It was a clever approach to sell an expansion that wasn't finished under the guise of locking content behind Season 3 (which is going to be spread throughout the entire year).

Back on topic, though, you still have to buy the core game... even if you're purchasing the expansion that includes the core game. They say they're giving it to you for free (some of the biggest BS I've ever heard, btw), yet you must still buy it. Now, though, you're buying a 4-year-old game plus an unfinished expansion whose content will slowly be released over this year.

Don't get me wrong, though, I thoroughly enjoy the game... I just wish I had people to play with that aren't random kids. Shrugs

If I'm simply not understanding something (e.g., you can download the core game without buying it—or the expansion—and play (un)restricted(?)), then please help me understand. After re-reading your last post, it sounds as if this may be the case... with some form of restriction(s), such as a level-limit and/or map restrictions.

I don't know. Btw, if I seem a bit rude or confrontational it isn't my intent—it's 1:30 in the morning and I didn't get much sleep last night nor, does it seem, will I tonight. I simply haven't heard of a restricted free version of the core game despite being subscribed to their newsletter (possibly I've not heard about it due to owning the game and GW2 simply not sending me that notification).

Cheers!

With the launch of expansion they changed their model. Everything pre-expansion is now free to play. However it involves certain restrictions, you only have to buy expansion to play expansion-only content and it also unlocks the restrictions.

Here is a chart they made. So i wanted to go from free to core version.

That's... interesting. This particular bit, though, I don't like the sound of "...accounts created after August 28, 2015 require SMS or app authentication to send gold and items" and "...accounts created after August 28, 2015 require SMS or app authentication to withdraw [from guild banks]."

The reason I don't like those bits is due to the fact that I don't have a cell phone (money-reasons and where I live there's no real signal). It makes me extremely grateful that I've had the game since launch. I created my own guild and leveled it up (before they changed how that works with the release of the expansion) so that I could have the three guild bank storage tabs for my extra crap. Even if I did have a cell I'd hate to have to go through that mess every time I wanted to pull something out of it.

Cheers!

PS: I don't know what world you play on, but if you'd like to get together sometime on GW2, GTA V, or whatever else I may have on Steam that you do as well, shoot me a friend request on Steam and we can chat. If you think you can stomach my personality we can attempt to stomp on some inquest scientists or flame legion soldiers or simply cause some mayhem in the streets of GTA V. It's up to you. I know you've got buddies of your own. Have fun.

same as league of legends or any other non-steam games, you won't see giveaways here. maybe someone dropping a code/key in the forums, but that's all.
