Wizardry 8 is a really awesome game! I'm happy to see that it's now on GOG.

I would buy it if I didn't already have the game on CD. I might grab 6&7 if I ever see it on sale sometime, though. Never played either of those.

That CD might be worth a lot actually, the game was out of print for the longest time because the publisher/devs went bankrupt and its price skyrocketed. I've heard it was selling for $70-100+ (used) on ebay a couple of years back. I never found a physical copy myself though, had to torrent it eventually. Now I can finally get a legit copy :D

Haha.. I actually don't have a legit copy, either. I meant that I had a burned copy of the game. =P I would love to have a real CD copy, but there's no way I'm paying $40+ for a used old PC game (checked Amazon & Ebay). A copy on GOG would be nice, though, so I might give in and buy it at some point.

I doubt it will happen, but I'd love to see it released on Steam.

I play wizardy 8 many times - dominus ;)
Im happy, but this version hasn't the same combat module like in 7 or 8.
I think the new version is like rappelz or metin 2 - classic are better ;)

It's like a hardcore Might & Magic game. 15 character classes, 11 races, 3 endings, permadeath mode, ridiculously tough fights...

Unfortunately, all of sudden the game stopped working and I've tried to install it several times running in various compatibilies without any success. Too bad, it was my favourite game ex aequo with Postal 2.

Try posting on the GOG support forum for assistance. Also there is the GOG Config Utility which allows you to tweak some game settings (using DirectX instead of 3dfx for instance), maybe that could help. Look it up on GOG, good luck!

I don't own it on GOG. I still have pretty old CD from game magazine dating back to 2005 I guess.

Brilliant.

Wizardry 8 was pretty awesome. One of the best old-school first-person RPGs in my opinion, even better than Might & Magic 6/7.
