Called "Dark Steamgifts,' I spent this morning and much of the afternoon working on it.

Shameless URL here: http://userstyles.org/styles/53779/dark-steamgifts?r=1316390583

This is a skin for steamgifts which is only usable in Chrome and Firefox, and it reskins steamgifts to make it dark instead of bright, for easier viewing at night, yada yada. Anyway, there were no skins available from what I saw so I decided to make one to reskin this beautiful site. It should work on all pages, keyword is should.

This is very preference oriented, so you may or may not like what you see. My actual skin work is a bit of a mess, at some point I may rework it.

Apologies in advance if Cult or CG would prefer this not be posted here.

Edit: And I messed up by failing to mention THIS REQUIRES THE STYLISH EXTENSION. So if you want to use this, please install Stylish first.

Edit 2: The skin seems to prevent the "enhanced steamgifts" plugin from popping up giveaways in the little windows; to be honest I don't know why it's preventing it (or maybe it's only preventing me). Apologies if this is not to your liking.

Edit 3: So I did some more work on it, it's still technically a work in progress. I'm not sure if stylish automatically fetches the latest version of skins or if you have to update manually. But whatevs.

Neat, thanks!

e; not sure if it's just me, but it seems to be affecting every site I browse :(

e2; ^ Okay, it's not just me. I'd be glad to use this if you could fix that, thanks!

I always wanted this site to be of any color but the eye-blinding-white. I would like to use this add-on/mod/skin of yours but since it effects every web page, it is pretty much useless right now. I'm looking forward to seeing it become SG only.

Ah I see, fixed it. The problem was I had posted verbatim from my own CSS style sheet which doesn't include the container wrapper (that only works when posting the actual code on the userstyles site). New upload fixes that.

Apologies.

In the future if this happens again, just go into edit and change "everything" to the domain steamgifts.com

Edit: The best way to update it is to simply select it from the stylish drop down, and hit the "delete," refresh the userstyles page, and hit install.

Once you do this, it'll be working 100% again.

Edit 2: I just wanted to say, sometimes when you load a page, it MAY end up not looking quite right. Keep in mind this is forcing a CSS layer on top of the CSS and not every element always gets reskinned. If this is the case, you may want to reload the page; it will most likely resolve itself.

So if you notice a box is white when it should be dark, reload the page and it'll go to what it should be. Note that I can't reskin images (such as the stats page). Also I'm not sure if I mind the blue of the forum search box.

Not sure if this constitutes a double post, but...

I'm inviting people to go ahead and use this to make their own skins. If you don't know how to use CSS, go check out a CSS tutorial. Most of the elements are already covered in the CSS for the skin. And if you do make your own Stylish skin, and you happen to upload it to userstyles.org, maybe you could mention Dark Steamgifts somewhere (just a courtesy, not requesting or requiring).

As to the rules of userstyles.org, you'll have to read up on those, but they want your CSS code to be less than I think it's 64kb. They might allow you to link images, if you really need to know contact the admin of userstyles. I dunno, read up on the rules of all that. Tonight I might get started on reworking it to make it a little more tidy (there's a lot of elements right now which use the same CSS properties but are all defined on their own -- I could claim that's intentional but mostly I did it because it makes it easier to navigate, and I was being lazy). At the same time, having each element have its own code block means it's easier to reskin each element on its own.

So follow the rules of userstyles, but if you want to make some game themed skin for the site (a Deus Ex skin might be nice!)... Go ahead and use this. Buttons can be reskinned (the images; you can probably figure out the ones I mean), but you'll need to provide your own images to do so.

Also, I have no artistic talent, which is why I didn't reskin the buttons to begin with. I'm a programmer, not a photoshop wiz.

Edit: Also the code is currently only 6kb in size... So you're nowhere near the 64kb limit just from using my code. Code may increase or decrease in size when I properly tidy it up.

Was probably a joke, but nonetheless: http://userstyles.org/styles/53793/pink-steamgifts?r=1316441519

As to whether or not it looks good... Well if you don't like it you can tweak it.
