Question about region lock games...

Lets say i win a GTA4 copy.
They are region locked.
The guy is from the US while i'm European.
Obv that he doesn't want to scam me.
But i can't redeem the game because of the region lock.
What happens then?
Re roll? Makes sense altough it pretty much suck.

I don't think you're allowed to give out region locked keys, unless you state it in description?

I don't think anything from the US is region locked in Europe but when it is then report the giveawayer because he made a giveawy for a region locked game.

i do believe that gta4 has US and EU versions...But i'm not really sure. But it would make sense as taxes on gaming related stuff are off the chart here in Europe.

I don't think that there are different version for Europe an US and especially when they are Steam gifts they are not region locked.

Yeah steamgifts are probably not locked. Again, not sure about it :p But as far as the deal on amazon goes it is locked. Atleast the GTA4(Basic game) is. Episodes isn't. But i was just wondering because i can imagine US people buying the game cheap to giveaway(wich is obv very nice of them) but then the lock comes into play.

I just ckecked the FAQ here on sg and it does say:

""Do not submit CD-keys that require VPN activation or methods to bypass regional restrictions.""

So i guess if someone does giveaway a gta4 copy and problem arise he should be reported..Still think thats a bit harsh though as the giver just wanted to give something away. It would be more logical if for example there is a function when creating a giveaway where you have to input the possible region lock and then people outside that region wouldn't be able to join that specific giveaway
