We've had a lot of old console exclusive games being ported to PC nowadays, like old PlayStation Final Fantasies.

Which franchises you like are already "dead" enough (= not sold any longer/time has gone enough) to be revived on PC?

For example, can you imagine .hack or Mega Man X games coming to PC? Which franchises/games you'd like?

Indeed. It's a beautiful game for me :) Hopefully Cacpcom would remaster this after Resident Evil, etc.

That would be nice, yeah! But PS2 code is probably not a quick port and I'm not sure it's economically viable.

Why would you want the NA version of FFX? (Just get a PS2 or PCSX2 if you dumped your BIOS.)
Our version sucked compared to International.

I don't quite understand what you mean, since I didn't play it and don't know how many versions exist: the best version was the Japanese or the North American one?

ps now means locked 1080p, locked 16:9, locked 30fps and high latency. so, i also would prefer a proper pc version :)

Playing on PSNow is not the same as playing a proper port... PS4 system and code is almost the same as programming games for PC so it can't be that difficult to do a proper port. I still need to play the DLC as I finished the base game back when I still had my PS3. I miss that world. :-)

Red Dead Revolver & Red Dead Redemption
Seiken Densetsu series
Quite a few others I can't think of now.

While I know Emulation can accomplish a lot of what I am after, I'd like to be able to convert my physical copies into legal digital copies without them being mutilated by bad ports.

Physical copies are irrelevent, hardly any PC game has them anyway. Digital sales = the game is still being sold. Is virtually everything on Steam "not sold any longer"?

Also everyone in this thread is just posting games that are still actively being sold. 😐

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Most of what I have is no longer sold, and if it is sold the quality of the physical product is usually very bad.
Not a lot of people take care of their stuff as well as I do. And a lot of stuff people just do not have anymore
(obscure, never very popular, etc)

I had written like that because if I say "well, Mega Man X is not being sold any longer, so it could be revived on Steam", someone might say "hey! It is sold! It is on Nintendo/PlayStation Network/anywhere else!". I'm just trying to say that time has gone enough to some game finally being able to get a PC (preferentially Steam) release.

I've changed.

It is incredible the power that these companies have over our minds and our way of thinking. Steam made a lot of people to literally love an intrusive and abusive thing like the DRM. It's happening and here's a proof.

Seriously true, I think the story is it was originally made to directly advertise the neoepets website because I remember my copy coming with a gift code of sorts for neopets and some kind of small advertisement paper with the small plushies on it

The irony is that the game itself might actually be better than the entirety of neopets itself

Man, everything from my childhood nostalgia...

  • Crash Bandicoot 3
  • Spyro the Motherfuckin' Dragon: Ripto's Rage
  • Tony Hawk (I know they released one, it was an absolute joke. I mean a proper THPS3 port, one of the greatest PS2 games in history)
  • Heart of Darkness (I actually recently replayed this when my brother came to visit, we absolutely loved this game. It was too scary for us to play alone back in '98 so we always played it together. Really underappreciated game imo. Hardly anyone I know has ever seem to have heard of it.)
  • Metal Gear Solid 2
  • Digimon World (Hardest PS1 game in the history of mankind. I don't think I managed to keep a digimon alive for more than 10 hours. One of them literally pooped himself to death, I was a terrible trainer)
  • Driver 2
  • Edit: How could I forget Jak and Daxter

The third tony hawk(I think that's the one with the college, chicago, construction docks, zoo, prison, etc. right? That's the one I played) was amazing. Would pay full price to play it again.

I think that may have been 4? Memory foggy as all hell now but the prison was Alcatraz which I remember was definitely 4 because that was one of my favourite maps. That was still a terrific game though, but I played every THPS game up to Proving Ground until they tried to get fancy with the motion tracking crap to compete with Skate, and I always kept going back to 3.

I'd feel like I had a duty to go back and play it again just to keep one alive for more than a day.
Going around the world convincing all the Digimon to come back to the city and rebuilding the town, god damn man... getting tingles just thinking about it. And the tunnels, helping Drimogemon move the dirt back and forth, who knew manual labour in a videogame could be so fun

Man, I got a lot of memories playing Digimon World. I remember I managed to bring back ot the city every digimon except for Monzaemon (getting a Numemon late into the game is really hard). That game was as great as it was addictive.

Man I still get nightmares about Numemon... all my Digimon wanted to evolve in to him. If they didn't poop themselves to death, they turned in to Numemon.

There's still a lot of Nintendo, SEGA, Atari, PlayStation releases which deserved a proper version for PC. I'm not talking about the franchises exclusives for each company (like Mario or God of War)

For example, Atari Vault on Steam is a shame, since it doesn't have many of the most famous Atari games
