So, I want to take advantage of the sales on the Warhammer 40,000: DoW games. But I'm not sure which to buy. Should I get one of the packs (they're sort of spendy) or is one of the games significantly preferable to the others?

Also, how much does the DLC add? Is it a minor thing, or will I be sad if I don't have it?

Yeah, if that one is the one I want to play I'll go do that. Thanks. But it's only a few bucks for any of the others right now.

So I'm seeing a bunch of votes for DoW II. I would have expected the newer stuff to get higher marks (partly based on Steam ratings). Is that first one larger than the others or something?

I am pretty sure retribution and chaos rising are basically expansions

It depends on what you want to play. The main campaigns in DoW 2 & Chaos Rising are longer and more involved than that of Retribution, but Retribution lets you play as any race. If you just want to play skirmish or MP, there is really no reason to go for any other game than Retribution, apart from price.

Personally, I found the DoW 2 vanilla campaign to be really repetitive and boring.

DoW II has the best Singleplayer experience (you can only play as space marines on Singleplayer),
Chaos rising adds a new Singleplayer campaign that continues the story of DoW II (you can only play as space marines on the Singleplayer)
Retribution adds a couple of campaigns (1 for each race) but all of those are "inferior" to the previous games. Retribuiton is a stand alone expansion as such it's the best DoW II for multiplayer (more races, maps, etc). Most DLC are skins, if i remember corretly the only DLC worh buying is a hero for the stand alone mode (only if you play that multiplayer mode)

So now, for whatever reason, none of these games are showing up as having prices at all on Steam. I couldn't buy any of them if I wanted to. (It isn't just them either--about 1/3 of my wishlist suddenly has no price and can't be bought.) What is going on? Is anyone else having this bug?

Yeah, I saw that glitch. It's back to normal for me now.

From what I remember that was true few years ago, you have two options: full pack if you're single player, Retribution if you want multiplayer.
