Strade Bianche - Eroica Pro

After my Tour de France event I decided to do small events for the cycling spring and autumn classics as well.

How it works

Predict who is going to win the race; that's all. :)

Entries close when the race starts.

Since it's a one day race just enter your predictions here. If you were expecting a giveaway... have 41 of them here. :)

Once all the classics have finished I will create a special winner's train event for everyone who correctly predicted a winner. There's quite a few classics so you will have ample opportunities to get a winning prediction. Once the season is over I will create a new thread to remind the winners so they can get their entry into the train.

Race Preview

It’s like Paris-Roubaix and Amstel Gold Race’s Italian love-child — a hilly route that features rough, unpredictable roads.

  • Last year's winner Fabian Cancellara retired so no fourth win for him. A real shame though, I would have liked to see him ride another year. Edit: look at what he was given.
  • Coming fresh of his new win in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad Greg Van Avermaet will want to this one too; it's missing from his palmares, so far.
  • After winning Kuurne–Brussels–Kuurne on Sunday Peter Sagan will want this one too; his best result here was second.
  • Zdeněk Štybar won this one in 2015 and he is sure to want another one.
  • 2014 winner Michał Kwiatkowski is back for more too.
  • Alejandro Valverde won't be starting here, a real shame.
  • Maybe Tim Wellens will surprise us all?
  • Fabio Aru could bring it home for Italy.
  • Cannondale could do with a win and maybe Rigoberto Urán is the man to do it for them.

Ah, I'm a rare guest in the discussions, I miss a lot of things :) Do you plan on doing something for Giro?

I was only planning to do the Tour and the classics as it takes a lot of work if I want to do it properly with favorites, course maps, etc. But who knows?

When I read Straddle Biancha - Erotica Pro I was all...whaaat? o_O Then finding it's all about men in tights straddling bikes was slightly unexpected.

And slightly disappointing, I'm sure. ;)

The name Strade Bianche (Italian for White Streets) stems from the historic white gravel roads that are a defining feature of the race. Eroica Pro was added after the creation of a women's version

Michał Kwiatkowski got himself a second victory. Better watch out for him in the Amstel Gold Race. Next up: Milano-Sanremo, March 18.
