I am the only one who can't disable automatic chat log-in?

I used to keep the option "Automatically login in chat" disabled so I can just use Steam while chat is offline and enter if I need to talk to someone. It's been a few days I can't anymore, it keeps logging in everytime I open Steam, or when it reconnects after my connection drops or Steam goes offline.
I'm the only one having this issue? That's making my life hard...

Also, worth noting that it happens on all my 3 PCs, even while not in beta update:

  • Windows XP
  • Windows 7
  • Mac OS

I was but I deactivated the beta-update to see if it would make it work again, no luck

Had the same issue about a month ago. It started happening as soon as I got one of the beta updates and it stopped happening a few hours later when another update rolled out.

Unfortunately, I am not sure how to fix it, since uninstalling the client and reinstalling, disabling beta didn't work for me at the time. Just fixed itself when the next update got downloaded :/

Yeah I don't think uninstalling can solve the thing either because it happens on every Steam installation I have, probably an account problem, but that's a lot strange.

Well, I had this issue after one of the updates seemed to default my steam settings which need to be set for every machine you use. Cant just reactivate it under friends tab then save and quit out of steam and re deactivate it on next launch?

The problem is that I have to go offline everytime I open Steam or after I lose connection

Yea but it should only do that if the setting to sign in to friends is ticked under the friends tab, and the save of this setting is local.
