I was just wondering, I used to have a radio show for 4 years where I primarily played that stuff and I wanted to see if there are any other metalheads out there. If you've got anything good you're listening to, feel free to post it. I've been listening to some old school In Flames recently, mainly their Subterranean EP (you should check it out, it's awesome).

Subterranean

EDIT: While I do mainly listen to death metal and melodic death, I have a lot of love for different types of metal, so as long as it's fast and heavy feel free to talk about it!

EDIT 2: Just in case you missed it the first time, there's a puzzle here somewhere. GA ends @ 4:20 pm PST today. (roughly half an hour from now)

That list contains proper death metal. I very rarely listen to metal of any kind these days, but if I do it's stuff like Death, Morbid Angel, Nile and Suffocation. The classics.

I have nothing positive to say about In Flames.

Denmark is often overshadowed by our neighbours in Norway (black) and Sweden (death), but here is a few danish bands you most likely don't know, but might like (too lazy for proper links). Mostly death but also a lovely death/black and roll bastard I like;

My wife and I went to see Hate Eternal earlier this year while on our honeymoon! I'd already seen them a couple years back along with Vital Remains and Origin, but it was great regardless.

On an unrelated note, this is one of my favourite Death Metal songs in the history of ever.

P.S. I'm pretty fond of the demo version of Dead Eternity found on the 2004 re-release of Subterranean.

It's a good one! I really like their cover of Murders in the Rue Morgue off the re release, the fusion of iron maiden and in flames is crazy

Aren't they Metalcore?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

more of a blend of melo metalcore and melo death so if you're a purist of metal then I guess not really but if you accept all genre blends into your heart then they are still death metal :^)

Mostly. But they did some pretty borderline death metalish/deathcore songs.
"The Weak Willed" for example.

I don't really like the latest album, there are far to many songs with just clean vocals. But especially Fall of Ideals was just awesome.

Well don't listen to much Death Metal, Fandago pretty much listened mostly all the stuff I listened to except for Vuvr and Cynic, but everyone know Cynic.

Listened too a lot of Progressive/Tech Death/Grind when I was younger but nowadays not so much.

Can recommend you some experimental stuff, though:
Lykathea Aflame, Hacksaw To The Throat, Cynic, Psycroptic, Into Eternity, Disillusion, The Faceless, Symbyosis

The newest Carcass album is kickass, too (Surgical Steel). Sounds a lot like Heartwork with a more groovy edge.

Yup, the new Carcass is great.

I'm definitely going to have to check out the carcass album, I keep hearing good things about it. And I've listened to a bit of psycroptic (mostly their last album), they're badass. Thanks for the recommendations!

soooo closeminded. there's so much variety in that genre, you can't grasp the whole thing in one song.

Lamb Of God earlier albums (for me all albuns are good enough).
Dr. Acula is funny to hear from.
Cradle Of Filth
Thy Art Is Murder
And Veil of Maya the two first albums are f** great (the third one didn't liked but the fourth one is good).

Just that none of them is death metal. You're posting on a wrong thread.

Well that's ok i missed the death metal part. Still i do have Six Days of Darkness that is Death Metal and it's good to listen sometimes.

Graveworm is a type of death metal and it's one of my favorite bands.
Trigger The Bloodshed is a misture of death metal and deathcore.
Resist The Thought.
Job For A Cowboy.

And i have some more (Actually i listen a bit of every metal genre that appears but i'm more used to listen to deathcore/metalcore). That's why I've posted that 4 bands above. Well if he gives a try, who knows, maybe he will like and listen.

Btw i have more death metal bands but they are on my gf's house has she likes more this genre (death metal).

Btw the OP don't ask for Death Metal music as from what i've read so it could be interpreted in general. If he is not sticked only to Death Metal so my post above is still valid (in a way i think).
