There are some giveaways in my won section that I don't have access anymore and its weird a bit. It shows type of giveaways as blacklist and "?" instead of creator's name. I believe its because I left those groups and/or they were deleted. But anyway I don't ask to enter all old and current giveaways of the group I was a member once. Just those I won. As I can enter invite only giveaways from my won page.
If you want to know a reason for visiting those old GA's you may call it nostalgy =)

Is it maybe because of a script you're running? I have a win from a group I am no longer part of and it looks normal on my won games screen (but I can't access the giveaway since I'm not part of the group). No mention of blacklists.

I think it's a bit weird in general, we should be able to access the giveaways we've won in case there's an issue with the GA that comes up later or if we want to let the GA creator know what we thought about the game.

Yep. Its ESGST tried to extract that info from GA's.
But we can't even know who was the host of giveaways we don't have access anymore

You can, just not from the global giveaways/won page, but from that on your profile (user/<your_username>/giveaways/won).

If someone is blacklisted by creator it means they don't want to interact with them. So leaving loophole of "you won my giveaway, so can talk to me" looks IMO weird. User is free to contact creator on steam, but if they ignore them - it's clear sign they don't want to talk to them. So would be also against their wish to allow winner to contact them via SG.

If there is a problem with giveaway - make ticket. And we will contact with creator if necessary. If it's just simple revocation we will change feedback after we have screenshot of revocation message.

What you say makes sense concerning blacklists, but the request is more about group giveaways. Make it so I can see won giveaways in groups I have left - unless the giveaway creator blacklisted me :)

There is still danger that user was removed from the group as they were toxic. Allowing people to enter giveaways they won (and when creator did not BL them) pose risk of them going to giveaway comments to attack people there.

Right now removing from the group withdraws access to the giveaway, so creators don't need to think to BL to prevent any attacks.

It's of course some borderline case that would not happen often. Still not something I'd want to suspend people for. "Going to attack users from group they were kicked out" :P

Can you access ended private-only giveaways from your profile page or via /won page?

Moderators have View Closed Invite Only Giveaways permission, so we can see all closed, private giveaways. And I simply did not remember if "normal" user can access theirs or not :D

So thanks :D

It still seems like a solution that solves the problem on a technicality,

There can be many legitimate reasons for accessing a giveaway.

If your goal is to only prevent a toxic member from creating "attacks" via comments, why not mute them on the giveaway? That is lock the comments and prevent existing comments from being edited.

Personally I'm not so sure it was a great idea to use blacklist as a catchall for people you dont want to enter your giveaways, and people you don't want to interact with. As this thread has shown they are not always the same.

There are no tools to allow it. Site admin would need to change how site works, and when it was proposed recently to block commenting in new people giveaway to avoid calling giveaways fake - it was not implemented. Don't think time would be spent to be able to ban few people, from commenting in closed giveaways. And I personally think there are other areas that need development time. Also there is already working solution to avoid people you don't want to contact - blacklist.

Allowing someone to comment in giveaway they don't have access to in the first place doesn't make sense. Also what would be the point of allowing people to enter giveaway, but not comment in it? I think people in general add users to BL as they disagree with them, and don't want to give them games.

Would make more sense if "silencing" user would not allow them to reply to your comments in the forum as well. But as it stands BL works only for giveaways, and as an extension to comments, as private / group giveaways are self-closed to people that are allowed to enter them.

All other explanations and/or reasons aside, there's always a point in revisiting something in you past be that digital or not. It doesn't have to be a specific action that you take. It just feels odd, for lack of a better word, that you can't just click and see that giveaway, even to remember your comment there. I would, at the very least, like to be able to delete any comments that exist in a page that I don't have access to anymore. Not that I would necessarily do it, but I would like that option available to me.

PS. Understandable that the site isn't configured as such, or it's hard to develop it, or other parts need more attention, or..or.. It's just that the "what's the point" argument usually isn't an argument. Most of the time there's some kind of point, just maybe not very attainable..

It's from ESGST, I have the same for WL wins where I'm no longer on the WL but I'm not blacklisted by the person :)

I don't see any blacklist, I just see what you are suppose to see so maybe it's something on your side OR you actually also got blacklisted by them.

Regardless of ESGST - If you want a bit more info about a giveaway than what the general Won giveaways page shows, even if you are denied access to the giveaway page for any reason, then:

  • Open your SG profile

  • Click the number of Gifts Won to view your list of wins, which will take you to steamgifts.com/user/YOURSGUSERNAME/giveaways/won

  • Search for the name of the game from the inaccessible giveaway

  • See the additional info on the giveaway you cant access
