Watch Gurren Lagann. It's not a generic mech anime.

Well, the end is bloody awesome IMO(i didn't read Akame ga kill manga). Rare case when there is NOT a happy ending. Tired of fluffy and cute endings when everyone is safe and evil is gone.

It was good.

I remember having mixed feelings when I watched it.
The deaths felt a bit forced as if they had to kill off a different main character every other episode in order to keep you interested.

It's not just the ending which is sad, it's literally an emotion rollercoaster the whole bloody time.

Read the manga, it has a much better story and ending.

The anime made me laugh, not cry.
But on the other hand, the Nina part in Fullmetal Alchemist (brotherhood) also made me laugh ^^

Akame ga Kill had the potential to be one of my top favorite anime, but sadly they made it kinda disappointing, there is too many things that are different from the manga or just missing, important things, and overall the anime developed many characters and situations weakly, preferring to put too much drama without explaining anything, so it made the story feel forced.

Good the manga goes a way better than the anime, and doesn't have absurd stuff, some characters are alive, more good battles, more main and secondary characters development, more explaining about good characters that anime doesn't even give a fuck about, etc, which doesn't make it disappointing, unlike anime did.
