Thanks it worked perfectly, I used the geoproxy and was able to redeem it on my account, I guess I cannot wait for the next games to unlock... I just hope it is not a game that I already own or was given free before.

Tried SoftEther + Gate and there were only 2 China options and neither worked. Do additional servers come online, or are the two there the only ones that will be there. Any help is appreciated.

Activity coming from few IP, yes Ubi believes is strange activity

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah i figured all that, but like facebook or twitter they don't force a password reset, also with sharing this, atleast people can figure out it aren't fake mails.

Those emails seems are being delivered to people who access after many people used those IP's, guess having 2fa helps a bit

Makes sense, since I think some scams could originate from a china ip and so when ubisoft sees that there is strange activity on your account originating from a china IP it probably sends a red flag that your account is compromised so that is why they are forcing a password change to sort of lock your account out, so only you can access your account.

I mean, many request coming from few IP address , and many accounts login in from the same IP at once or in some lapse, that's what I think is going

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah for me I was able to do this with geoproxy and I only had to log in once with the china ip and it went through. But I've read that others it took them like 3 or so tries and that could have maybe triggered it when there was 2 or more attempts with a suspicious ip.

Yes, my first thought was spam but strange activity from a Chinese VPN could be the reason for this ;-)

Tried Tunnelbear and Hongkong server. Didn't work as already described by others.
Tried OpenVPN, but the only currently available Chinese VPN server can't be connected due to TLS handshake not working (neither UDP nor TCP).
Tried Windows 10 integrated VPN with the same Chinese VPN from OpenVPN gate: worked, but I disconnected before claiming it (remembered it wrongly), got to the page "We can't find what you're looking for." Went back, but wasn't able to re-connect to the VPN server.

Well, gotta try later again. Nonetheless: thank you, MeeMesmo! :)

May be because Hong Kong is not China ;) It is autonomous territory in china

Oh really?
Since I had FlyVPN already installed which only provides HK servers in the free version, I just tried it (like others who posted it on page 1).

If I may I would recommend the "GeoProxy Guide by KornKage" (the link is in the description and GeoProxy is free google chrome extension. Just instal it, pick China and the first IP worked for me perfectly). I have done it by it in about 30 seconds :)

I already got it in the meantime by using another server from the OpenVPN list and Win10 integrated VPN, but thanks nonetheless. :)

Tried with SE+Gate and neither of the two China connections worked.
Then decided to try GeoProxy, and none of them were working either.
Then one actually seemed to connect, but was so slow, nothing would come up.
Tried another one a bit later, and it finally worked.
If you haven't logged in to your Ubisoft account yet when you are doing the
process, simply disconnect from the proxy at that point and login. The game
will be added to your account.

3) tried Edge, loaded and could log in
4) set 3rd party cookies allowed chrome
5) log in in usual IP account.ubisoft.com
6) geoproxy china VPN once logged in to account.ubisoft.com
7) head to free page and 'register'
8) turn off proxy
9) check uplay client for game

Yeah, I was expecting as much. Uplay region locked keys sometimes have fewer languages, so this promotion isn't any different. Did the same apply to Trials Fusion? lol

No big deal, I somewhat wanted to replay AC2 but it's probably better to just remember how good was this game when it released. I'm not sure it would live up to my memories ;)
