What is the answer to life, the universe, and everything?
Oh gosh, if its anything like The Hitchhiker's text adventure game you're in for a real....treat.....
Also, the book this is based on was not written by Douglas Adams, its a spin off by another author.

The book written by Terry Jones is actually based on this game, not the other way around. Douglas Adams wrote and designed the game (and has some voice acting parts in it, along with Monty Python members Terry Jones and John Cleese).
The Hitchhiker's text adventure games are pretty neat, for anyone interested they can be played with graphical overlays here:

Oh really? I didn't know the game came first.
I thought the book was just meh though.

Good to know! I actually read the book a few years ago but was never able to track down a copy of the game. (Or rather, gave up on it pretty quickly.) Hoping it shows up on Steam, but I might buy it off of GoG if it doesn't.

After having been lost for a good long while, it is now available again at GOG.com, DRM-free!
Starship Titanic - $5.99
For those unfamiliar with the game, it is a point & click hidden object type of adventure that takes place on a space cruiseship. It carries with it the signature humor of Douglas Adams and also has text parser interaction (think like chatbot interaction) when speaking to the robots on the ship. Fans of Douglas Adams, HOGs, or retro point & click adventure games should definitely check it out!
