Copy pasta of a copy pasta of a copy pasta of a copy pasta of a copy pasta of a copy pasta of a copy pasta since I'm just that lazy :D.

Hello and welcome to the madness!
The challenge is simple: Play and beat any 6 games, starting today, that have been featured in any given Humble Monthly/Choice bundle in one month.

The prize: Mafia: Definitive Edition

Game length does not matter and I'm not looking for 100% achievement runs. So long as you play and beat 6 games, I'm happy. You can go easy mode and play a bunch of 1h games or go crazy and play 6 +30h games. So long as they were in a monthly at a given point, it is all good.

Just post a comment with either screenshots/ achievements showing that you fulfilled the criteria and I'll add on Steam and give you the link. Feel free to share your thoughts on the games you've played, but it is not required.

FAQ:

Why you doing this?

I hate money. That and I realized I've been subbed to the monthly for nearly five years (yes it has been that long, I checked) and it occurred to me that I've barely touched the games I've gotten from it, let alone played them. Figured the same would be true for a few others, so I figured this is a good way to change that. A sensible person would probably unsub in this situation, but please refer to the beginning as to why that will not happen.

Why six games?

The first few monthlies had 6/7 games in them so I went with that.

How long are you going to do this?

Until my credit card statements gives me nightmares.

This event "ends" on November 6th when the next HB Choice releases, though the giveaway itself will end the next day. If you manage to finish game number six in between that time, feel free to post, but know that I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to give you the link in time.

Good luck, have fun and stay safe.
Thanks for reading, and don't forget to wait in line overnight to get it first

.In case you are wondering, I'll make the gib later in the week when I can set the end date to the 7th.
I totally did not forget to make the giveaway. I definitely planned on making the giveaway in the middle of the night a week after I said I would.
Also, I'm totally not annoyed for missing the PS5 preorders. Not at all.

Is this game eligible for your event if I buy and play it on Steam? It was included in Humble Choice February 2020 as a DRM-Free game.

I think cj has said no in the past to other such "bonus" games that steam keys were never provided.
In case he doesn't reply in time, might be best to pick another game.
EDIT: nevermind, you've already finished this month, lol

Raiden V from April 2020 - achievements

A pretty standard shmup that is enjoyable enough. Nice of the developers to have unlimited continues because most of my abilities from the olden days are gone. On the negative side, some of the environments are busy and loud, making it hard to identify hostiles and projectiles, and the story/dialogue is pretty bad. It felt like every other word coming out of the crew's mouths was "enemy."

The Shapeshifting Detective from September 2020 - achievements (Achievement names are spoilery, but "Look Ma I'm a Detective" is one achievement that requires beating the game.)

I guess I'm a bit of an FMV game connoisseur at this point, because I really enjoy them. Getting used to the shapeshifting mechanic was a bit tedious, but other than that, it was fun enough.

(minor spoilers) After beating the game, I realized that many possibilities in my head were not actually implemented in the game. But I still enjoyed it, because I like having all those crazy thoughts and possibilities in my head from moment to moment during gameplay.

Yoku's Island Express from August 2019 - achievements (In the achievement list, "The End" is a secret ending type of achievement related to collectibles, while "Kickback and relax" is for the main story.)

The pinball mechanics can be a tad annoying for me, but overall Yoku's is a relaxing, pleasant experience with a cute art style and great music.

Saints Row IV from November 2015 - achievements

Glad to finally get the first ever Humble Monthly headliner done, because I actually got it from the November 2015 monthly. As far as gameplay goes, it wasn't quite as good as The Third, but it was still almost as good and fun enough on its own merits. Didn't really mind "reusing" the Steelport map either. The superpower aspect makes exploration and collectibles much more fun and relaxing to do.

Just Cause 3 from January 2019 - achievements (Son of Medici is the final story mission)

I wasn't quite feeling this as much as Saints Row IV, but I got the hang of it eventually. Not quite as fun as Just Cause 2 for my taste, but the overpowered DLC weapon (eDEN Spark from the Bavarium Sea Heist) helped smooth over any frustrations I had with the combat.

GRIS from April 2020 - achievements

Obviously a beautiful game much like ABZU, where it's once again basically impossible to take a bad screenshot. Some of the puzzles felt more arduous than necessary, butt the game was short enough to not overstay its welcome.

Well, just in time. I planned to do Mad Max this month but my personal life kind of went to shit, so there's that. Always something, huh?

Sorry for another late entry, hopefully it will be allright. :}

  1. Sunless Sea -achievements

I had a blast with Sunless Sea. The story or rather stories are great. The experience of discovering weird unknown world is really one of a kind. I loved the heartwarming feeling that I had each time I returned home from yet another dangereous journey. I admit the combat is a bit clunky, and the overall pacing could be better, especially in later playthroughs, but still it was great. I'll definitely pick the Zumbariner dlc in next steam sale.

  1. Catherine Classic - achievements

Oh well, it was better than i thought in one aspect. I was somehow expecting this to be some high budget eroge. Catherine isn't that, so that's a plus (in my book at least). Truth to be told, I didn't like it anyway. Writer(s) tried to tell a story about responsibliity, maturity and relationships, but it wasn't antything particularily worthwile in that matter. I hated almost all of the characters (the main one is one of the biggest a**holes in video games, for sure), I didn't like the portrayal of women... I could go on and on, let's just say that I finished it and I don't think I'll come back.

  1. Paratopic - achievements

I'm not really sure what this game is, but it's certainly different. Mandalore has a nice review on his yt channel, I'd recommend watching it.

  1. Turok 2 - achievements

Oh, Turok 2. Good old times. I finished Turok 1 in one of your earlier events so I have a fresh comparison. The sequel is a much better game. Controls are vastly improved, there are much less jumping segments. The game is much more diverse - each of the 6 levels is different and has new and more powerful enemies. There are tons of weapons (around 20?), some are trash, but many of them are simply fantastic to use and some are quite ingenious ( the one that lanuches small bots that drill into the heads of enemies is my favourite). Oh and did I mention the level where you ride a triceratops? It's fun.

  1. Observer - achievements
  2. Uncertain: Last Quiet Day - achievements

Mediocre SF stories that we heard/seen/read hundreds of times. Observer has Rutger Hauer, and that's one positive thing I can say about it. Oh and both look quite good, but that's it.
