So Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed became a reduced CV game and I lost a level (6->5), (don't worry I'm gon get it back), but so, I lost the 50CV (25x2), but I just wanted to know why?

Was it in a bundle that I did not know of?
Or it was priced with above a 95% discount (which I didn't but it at that, it was like 90% I believe)?
Did the rules change overnight (I doubt so)?
Am I blind?
Bugs?
Overthinking things?
(EDIT: Most recent CV rule changes as according to cg-sama Da Reduced CV and No CV Giveaways Announcement just for reference)

Just wanted to know, cuz it was fine for a week thoo.

Also here's the obligatory potato.

Isn't it? Value is AT THE TIME GIVEN. I swear this site wants to punish people who give.

PREACH. I believe that givers should be compensated with CV according to the value of the game at the time given, and that this value remains in your profile forever. This should be true even if the game has a reduced value later or is even given for free later. That shouldn't matter at all. If, when you gave the game, it was worth X, then the CV represented by X stays with you. All future GAs once that change has happened will be based upon the new reduced value (or no CV if it was given away for free very broadly).

That is how it works now (beside the fact that the CV change with the Steam store price). If the game get's bundled or is free somewhere, that's not going to affect your CV if you gave the game away before that happened.

That's great to hear. It wasn't always this way (see my other reply in this thread ๐Ÿ˜€).

Do you mean everyone should be able to buy bundles that havent been added to the list yet and get full CV for them?

No, no. Absolutely not. I'm only saying that the value of the game at the time it was given (bundled or not) should stick forever. That didn't used to be the case. I have no problem with retroactive application of game value back to the date where everything changed.

And the issue I'm talking about may have changed since SG brought back the ability to give away "no CV" games. But for a while after I first joined, I gave away some games (bundled) that I got the requisite 15% CV value for, and then some site would make them a freebie a couple of weeks later, and then my total CV would go down. When I gave them, they weren't free, but I lost the CV after they became free. The answer that I got at the time was that this happened with bundled games, but not non-bundled games (i.e., the non-bundled games kept their CV for the giver even after the game was bundled or became free, but bundled ones would get zeroed out).

It appears that this may be ok now, and that so long as the game had value (bundled or otherwise) when it was given, that its free status later doesn't deduct from the giver's total CV. If so, awesome, problem solved.

I just know that I've lost a giving level before due to a game suddenly becoming valueless even weeks after my GA ended.

Strange, never heard about that before. They have both reduced value date and no cv date, so should be fixed now like you said.

The site never worked like that during the 3+ years I'm using it - I don't know who explained to you but they messed it up royally.
There are 3 important dates regarded to each game:
Date of being bundled (B)
Date of being added to the bundle list (L)
And possibly, da of it being free.

Giveaways created before the game being bundled worth 100% of the store price - this may change because of the changes in steam store.
*every* giveaway created after the the date B, being in the bundle will count for 15% - if the bundle starts at january and they add it to the bundle list at february, it will retroactively affect every giveaway between the two dates, but won't change anything to the giveaways created before it being bundled.

A game being free does not change anything for any giveaway's CV - even before the mentioned change all it did that it removed the game from the giveaway list. so that surely couldn't be the reason behind oyu losing CV.

Unfortunately that isn't how it works.
If the price in Russia (or anywhere else) drops to less than 5% of the US price it gets added to the bundle list.

If you are trying to min/max your CV then you are doing it wrong.

Increasing your level does nothing for you. You are better putting the money to something that is more use to you.

Yeah, this delayed reduction happens all the time. As frozenanalweed said, the game had this massive discount long ago, but only now it was listed as reduced cv.

What is 100 - 15?

Its 85

So 85 is < 90... Hence it is bundled, so you got more CV than what you paid

It used to be at a confirmed 95%, but now I guess the number's a bit vaguee

Its pretty much 85% and above. It really shouldn't matter. Level means nothing. Give games to give, not to receive

Did you took a look at steamDB? The prices there make it clear, some countries got it for 95% off or more compared to the base US price, that's all that's necesary to be considered bundled here, it has always been like that.

Permalink

Well, look again at https://steamdb.info/app/387340/
So, regular US price is $29.99
Lowest recorded price worldwide is in Russia, $0.89
So, it's a ($0.89100%)$29.99 =~ 2.968% of price, and that means 97.032%
It falls into >95% rule. And that's why it got reduced CV.
Only problem with this case is that it was retroactive, because it wasn't added to "bundle list" in time. But it happens all the time, because those lists a filled by humans, not automatic. If I remember it right - I've already suggested to automatically add games with high discount to the list automatically, but even that won't fix the issue completely, because game could be sold in third-party stores, and that's impossible to automate. So, best advice is not to giveaway games with discount more than 85~80% if you care about CV. And check google for cheap shops before making a giveaway too.

Same thing happened to me with another Nep game, bought a key for 90% off, made a full CV giveaway ๐Ÿค‘
I didn't realise it had been 90% off in Russia 3 months earlier ๐Ÿ™„ Bundle list got updated a few weeks after my giveaway and bam, CV drain ๐Ÿ˜ข

I'm just glad I only stuck to one copy ๐Ÿ˜œ

Maybe 85% off is safe picking with GA.
90% off often have same risk problem about GA became a reduced CV game.

Could be worse. I bought a few copies of Life is Strange - Episode 1 and gave them away. They are marked as full value, but since episode one is now free. I get a wonderful full value of zero. There are other games that fall in this same situation, don't expect this ever to get addressed. I can understand how these late changes can be annoying.

Is there a way to show more than just the last 102 ones that have been bundled? I was at 8.40 until yesterday (or was it the day before?), and now I am at 8.36. I'm just curious to see which game got bundled, as a 4 point drop means it was probably one of my giveaways for a "bigger" game.
