I tried to launch Steam today when this happened: During the "connecting Steam account: (username)" phase, it just crashes saying "Steam Client Bootstrapper" has stopped working. This never happened to me before, and I've tried deleting everything except Steam and Steamapps, letting it install everything again. It didn't work. Any solutions?

Edit: This is the error message I receive: http://puu.sh/3XDay.png

I use a 64-bit system, if that's relevant.

UPDATE: I ran it in compatibility mode and it worked! Yippie! Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I really do appreciate it.

I've had this happen twice. I just restarted Steam and saw no further issues (visible ones, at least).

Here's the thing: I can't get past the connecting Steam account phase. I keep trying to start it up and nothing happens. I've tried deleting the clientregistry.blob, and it still didn't work.

I got the same message but Steam launched anyway for some reason. Not much help but I though it was worth mentioning.

It always seems to crash at the exact moment the Steam client loads.

Have you tried to uninstall and install steam again (the whole file)? That usually fixes most of the problems people have with steam.
