I don't think criticism can be avoided. It's impossible to make everyone happy.

It's very easy to assume people are judging you. If you spend a lot of time listening to other people you'll discover a couple of things that will reassure you that virtually nobody else is actually judging you however. First, most people are too self-absorbed to spare much thought for others. Second, people just sort of accept that you are the way you are. "S/he looks this way," or "S/he acts this way," or whatever it tends to be.
