this thread arose from my celebratory lvl 10 rant with stat dump available here, if you want to backtrack how my twisted mind works, go right ahead!

dont know about you, guys, but it happened to me on numerous occasions that a revealed key needs to be replaced by GA creator, for what ever reason, but after that it does not need to be revealed again, although its, well, a different key, which in that case is not so obvious.

in the most common scenario, lets say the key turns out to be a dupe, so the winner reveals it, fails to activate it, but luckily it turns out the GA creator has a spare. now, i am just curious why on any key change after a previous reveal, the key on Won page is not hidden again for the winner?

to me, it would not only be expected, but would also make things more apparent. i mean, yeah, what im asking for is not much, but i think it would make a sure sign that the creator has done something to the key he is providing, so, for example, there would not be a need to rely on communicating that through comments, or some other way, that can be misinterpreted or just forgotten.

now, if you got this far, its only fair you get some treat, try this one on for size! and look for more in originating thread, wink!

veebles got me wondering as well, heh... never thought of trying it before, but, yeah, that would be a workaround that never occurred to me...

It doesn't seem like much of an issue to me since you are already going to be in contact with the giveaway creator at that point and they will leave a comment letting the winner know when the key has been replaced. It would be kind of dumb to replace a key and not let the winner know.

well, laugh all you want, but it happened to on numerous occasions okay, well, two, heh... where the key was replaced by GA creator, but he failed to mention it. so, yeah, i was sitting there, left the comment im okay with GA deletion, and nothing going on for days. i, as a winner, waiting for GA to be closed, the creator probably for me to try the replacement, a standstill till somebody comments again.
that is why is actually thought of this inquiry. yeah, its not much of an issue, but to me it really is logical that replaced revealed key is again hidden.
of course, the topic was out there so i feel the pulse of other users, hm, i guess this does not bother anyone beside me. thanks for the straight forward answer, AllTracTurbo, be good!

I probably shouldn't have said it would be dumb to not leave a comment after replacing a key because if the giveaway creator assumes the site will send the winner another notification after replacing the key, then they would think a comment would not be needed. I always assumed once the winner revealed the key, they would never get another notification even if I replaced the key, so it seemed obvious to me that you would need to leave a comment or the winner would never know the key was replaced. I guess I just got lucky and made the correct assumption about how the site works.

bump for a logical description of the issue.

imho, a good "fix" would be for the site to reset the "won" status on key replacement, so that you'd -- at the very least -- see the trophy alert icon when you visit the site again as a giveaway winner. E-mail / website pop-up optional?

i actually didnt initially grasp what veebles said here, but now that i think about it, seems that what im asking for can actually be achieved on the site, by the GA creator, only if he did one extra step, that being un-send then send again. i did not try this yet, but that could be a, well, workaround not really a fix, only if the user actually followed those easy steps

I don't really understand what you are asking. If the winner gets a bad key and the giveaway creator provides a new key, they will be waiting for the winner to activate the new key. If the giveaway creator doesn't contact the winner to let them know they replaced the key, I don't think support will approve a reroll.
