Favourite Far Cry Game?
Instincts (XBox) was about the only one I played significantly.

I did play the original version but actually quite enjoyed Instincts/Evolution. I haven't played Vengeance (the Wii version) but I'm sure I can live without it.

To my understanding, it was ****ing terrible.
I wish I could find copies of the original XBox games for my system. I did own the 360 version for a while, but they decided to 'improve' the AI, and I was getting killed by pistol snipers in buildings that were a dot on the horizon.

You be PAL right? There's a few shops locally that still have reasonable OG Xbox stocks. I'll have a look see tomorrow when I get out of work and see what I can dig up.

Correct, I'm PAL, but I'm also PAL on the other side of the world. Take it from someone who has sent games to the UK and US, its expensive to send a package that far.
Also, I'd be tempted to make you look for other old console titles if I thought I could convince you (I'm still looking for Stubbs the Zombie and a few others). :P

Yeah, can't recall the last time I actually saw a copy of Stubbs. I'm out picking up a few bits myself anyway so cook me up a list anyway and I may as well see what there is.

Never played 4 or Blood Dragon, so can't really vote on those.
I didn't care for the first at all. Too... "static-y" really in terms of combat and environment for me, had quite the learning curve to actually aim and shoot. It felt kinda forced with a weak story line.
Second hit the ground running, swapping to open world, with plenty to see and do, but the third for me took the best from that and improved on it. It still had its weaknesses, of course, especially towards the end where the story plummeted. Has been a while since I played FC2... can't even remember how that one did end now.
So, voted for the third, of course.

Blood Dragon is awesome! Highly recommended if you enjoyed 3 ^^

One of the few issues I had with Blood Dragon was the game was clearly intended as action yet they left stealth oriented missions in place without really leaving you geared for stealth.

True, I had some difficulties in stealth early on in the game but it doesn't really affect my play through since somehow I felt overpowered from the start. Maybe because they've made a variety of weapons available from the start?

I don't think 2 was a terrible game outright. It just had some painful mechanics that really put people off.

Far Cry 2 is the best in the series. And anyone who thinks otherwise is obviously wrong ;)

The problem with FC4 was that the cross-generational release held it back. This shouldn't be the case with Primal but because of the setting and particularly the weaponry available improvements will largely be restricted to other fields and as such may not be as noticeable. Basically 4, like Blood Dragon just took the engine and slapped on fresh coat of paint.
