Hi,

you'll have a 1% chance to win, if you meet the requirements!

Details:

1) I'm giving away a copy of Infected: The Twin Vaccine - Collector's Edition

2) You need $36 CV to enter

3) I used rot13 to encrypt the puzzle result

4) Only 100 users can enter (you'll see why)

Please don't even bother solving the puzzle if you already own the game or if you have less than $36 CV.

Good luck =)

Edit: well, it seems the dying link died a little prematurely, increasing the odds for the entrants to about 2% instead of 1%.

"Please don't even bother solving the puzzle"
Thank you for stating what the game is. That's a pet peeve of mine, doing a puzzle that maybe particularly annoying and the creator feels there being additionally sly by not stating what the GA is, only to find out in the end it's something you already have. Mostly I won't bother if it's not mentioned, but I guess that's just my preference.

Most of the time I solve the puzzles on SG for fun, sometimes even if the puzzle creator states what game he's giving away and I know that I already have it.

But in this case the idea was to avoid unnecessary clicks on the dying link ;)

The puzzle says 77 solvers; yet the decrypted link only takes me to http://dyinglinks.com//

I guess it died already?

I just tried it in different browsers, I always get the SG url.

Can someone else confirm this?

Did you keep the case during the decryption?

Pretty sure the chance will be higher, since some people will follow the link anyway xD

Indeed =)

I was hoping to filter out those link clickers by bringing in the puzzle, hehe.

Yes, but I think we can assume some people will share link. Forbidden or not. But then some people may try to exploit this shortening service by using proxy and using entries to get better odds... hard to guess how many people will be in :)

Solved and rot13'd the resulting URL (using http://www.rot13.com) and got a page that tells me the URL I tried to hit is a phishing site.

The page which says that seems to come from OpenDNS.

Looks like it's blocking everything at the shorturl for your link site.

shrugs all I can tell is that dyinglinks has been used in the past for various puzzles on SG.

There can't be any phishing going on, since it only redirects you and you're not entering any data.

What about dyinglinks.com/redirect.php?short=xxx where xxx is the parameter you get from solving the puzzle (after decryption)?

Someone who solved the puzzle posted on the GA page: Thanks. I had to change my DNS to Google's because OpenDNS said it's phishing site...

Oh, don't worry. I don't think you're trying to phish.

I think OpenDNS is just being a jerk.

I'm at work, so I can't change my DNS server, and the link form you provided didn't work. Oh well, I can try in a few hours from home.

Meh. I've put in all the effort I'm willing to for a 1% chance at a game I'm only 2/3 sure I'd enjoy.

I have enough of a backlog that it'd be a while before I could play this anyway.
