I cannot rules check on SGTools as a result.

Is this cause for a reroll?

Ask them to unprivate profile for a minute so you can check.

No, don't reroll. Add him and ask him to make his profile public first.

I had several of those today. What I do is leave the following message on one of their old GAs:

Hi,

Your profile is private and this prevents me from checking for unactivated wins (which GA creators are required to do with every winner). Please make it public temporarily so that I can check it before I deliver the key.

Thanks!

(which GA creators are required to do with every winner)

Not doing that anymore since it takes eons to get them a meager 3 day suspension and also where does it say we are required to do so?

In any case, I want to avoid winners who don't activate or re-gift, so I'm perfectly fine with checking for this. If you don't want to do it, I'm sure no-one is going to force you.

Khalaq recommends we do that, it's not a requirement, at least that's how I read it.

Fair enough. I require it from myself :-)

Neither terms of service nor FAQ state that creator checking the winner's activation or re-gifting is in any way required.

However, with the scripts provided in Yirg's above post, there's no real valid excuse not to do so. Maybe if everybody took it upon themselves to do so, we wouldn't have so many POS users with nothing but regifting on their accounts.

Thanks for the reply, I would hate to reroll I don't like having to do that.

I don't see how I can ask them anything, I can't add them on Steam and there is no direct message feature on here is there?

Isn't it a requirement to have an open profile on SG? Otherwise how can rules checks be made?

Thanks for your help guys.

You can create a reroll ticket and we'll check his profile ourselves.

You can also ask him to go public for a while. You can message him by adding him on Steam, emailing him or commenting on one of his giveaways (if any).

Just wondering, how can you check a private profile, can you access to last sync data :3 ?

Meeehhh, they do it all the time.
Phishing bots, beggars, people that want friends, people with stupid offers wanting to sell or buy things, people that want me to play with them, etc.
Maybe they had asked you to do some weird things in the past? ;P

Looks like I'm "poor enough", as not single beggar added me so far.

I'm not really social person and I'm not using Steam to chat with people (there is exception for 2 - 3 people I knew earlier from SG).

And yeah, there was few weird people. But nothing will be more interesting than your message, Don't ya worry about that : ]

Uhh, not exactly. I mean, there's kind of a loophole... the FAQ says:

Does my Steam profile need to be public to use the site?

You'll need to switch to a public profile when registering, so we can confirm you have a legitimate Steam account that meets our minimum requirements. From that point on, you can use the site with a private profile, however, if you wish to enter giveaways, the site will ask you to switch to a public Steam profile once a week to bring your account up-to-date.

It has to be public at least once per week for site to sync your data.

But you can make public profile, force manual syncing, and then immediately change your ptofile back to private. Not big deal.
