Yes, you were wrong. If it's a single key for a Steam package that includes all the games, you won't get any extra copies, unfortunately. If the bundle has separate keys for every game, you can give the extra keys away or trade them or whatever it is you want to do with extra copies.

There are only very few bundles that will give you extra copies for games you own - and then not even for all games in the bundle but only selected ones. Here is a list. I'm not certain if it is complete or if there are other packs that give you extra bundles:

HELLO EVERYONE!
Today I bought an armageddon bundle(well, friend of mine bought it for me), from which I already own 1954 Alcatraz and Deponia. When I activated the bundle I got every game in the list. But I thought that I will get extra copies of games that I already own. Apparently I was wrong. Wasn't I?
