Hi guys. Been a part of this awesome community for a year and a half. But only now worked up my guts to make a train. Although not completely without an agenda.

Short story long - Im a vehicle engineering student. I love cars and most everything with an engine. My hobby over the years have been photography, videography and such. Gaming above everything of course, how could have I survived this far without that.

What I wanted was to share with you my instagram page (lacking in pictures atm), but that is about to change. Im not implying you guys have to follow out of politeness or because you are being humble :) . If you are interested in cars, photography or something related to such, feel free to follow me, like a picture or too or maybe share my page to friends. Chris Kutcher photography page with 6 pictures, more on the way
I do this in my free time, I am no professional but I like to think Im improving over the time and eventually I want to bake up a youtube channel and homepage for this. And I figured, if I came out to you guys about my plans and someone would follow me I might get more enthusiastic about it. :D

Enough rambling about me, I would enjoy chatting up with someone, sharing some insights. Also, to make this interesting, maybe you guys want to share with me some cool story with you or with your car. e.g. what was your first car, what is your favorite car. Id be honored and grateful to see what kind of cars what kind of people drive around the world. The train is also filled with car related stuff and such, that being my life and all :D

Oh, and for your trouble ? Lets go with a train, you hopefully will enjoy BUMP links incoming. be patient :):)

Ill start - my first and current car (yes, Im that young) is Honda Accord CG4 coupe (seen in picture). With swapped H22A engine in it. Being a student and with petrol prices sky rocketing in my country, Im forced in selling it and switching to diesel, but my time with this car has been just wonderful, Ive rebuilt its engine, brakes, suspension. Learned alot.

My knowledge of cars goes as far as driving them :P

I'm currently driving my dad's Audi A4 1.8T 2001 (B6) Sedan. We bought it used for 5.700€ in 2013 and it has served it's purpose so far. I'd say it's a damn good car to drive at my age compared to what people usually drive here (in general). However, I'd like to that we upgrade it in the near future. BTW, German car engineering, best engineering!

That is a great car with superb engine.
I would love B6 myself. But S4 or RS4 edition. They are affordable to buy, but maintenance would be tad too high.

And yes, Germans seem to do a lot of things correctly. I dont have any preferences when talking about car manufacturers (I enjoy most and any car there is and try to find the good and bad in them), but I definitely see why Germans are celebrated over their engineering. Although they seem to loose their edge, I think.

I wouldn't be even close to being able to afford the Petrol for an RS or S edition :P

It's already tough enough to feed that 1.8 engine with the prices on Petrol being close to 1.50€/L. I can't even imagine what the consumption is like on a 2.5 or more engine. I'd disagree with the S/RS edition (whether just style or engine as well) as I'm somewhat of a more classical style who hates tuning and touched designs.

German cars are great, yet awfully expensive. One can buy a Skoda that practically has the same engine with an Audi and pay 1/3 of the price. Let alone that you can get really decent Japanese cars that last for centuries and are affordable af.

We have 10 cent difference. And when you take into consideration the fuel consumption, then it comes into play a lot.. Well, to elaborate, petrol prices are rising, but diesel prices do, too. But when somewhat new diesel engine consumes half of what petrol engine consumes, it seems youre driving for free..

Agreed, classic cars are awesome :)
I would love to tackle some kind of restoration project eventually. I dont even know what is so appealing in an old, costly, unsafe and outdated piece of machinery, but it has certain charm to it.

Working on an oldtimer project is fun especially if you have some family and close friends to help.

That car was fully dismantled, sandblasted and refurbished. A truck load of hours went in this overhaul but in the end my finished car was totally worth it and along the way you always learn some new stuff and tricks.

Those cars are mechanical while new\modern cars are a lot of electronics and computers.

Everytime I see a Tesla on the road I become a little child :)
Thanks for the nice game selection!

Electric cars as such leave similar expression on me :D

I myself have driven only VW e-UP!. And I enjoyed it. Sadly we dont see a lot of Teslas in my country, them being rather expensive and we have a lack of charging stations.
Also hybrid cars are technological marvels. The more desirable ones (LaFerrari, Porsche 918, McLaren P1) are still performance cars at hearth with their "small" V12 generators. But how far electric engines have pushed technology itself is admirable.

I love cars but right now the really nice ones are far too expensive for me so I'm just watching youtube vids with nice cars and drive mine until it breaks down (300.000+ km and still running pretty smooth).

Thanks for the giveaways!

Prices are high, no doubt about that.
In the end I resort to watching youtube videos of cars Id love to someday drive, too.
For me Project Cars and Dirt Rally have been awesome games where I can try to get the feel for performance cars or some exotics. If youve got the wheel, its a great experience.

My car had something around 300+k on the clock, too. Had some minimal oil consumption, but could live with it. But eventually broke down. Had to decide whether getting a new engine or rebuilding mine. For educational purposes choice to do the rebuild. Runs great for now, no oil consumption.

I am thinking about getting a wheel for a long time now but money is limited and there is always something more important to buy :P

Rebuilding an engine is quite impressive!

I am using cheap wheel. Some 30 eur.. Not the best, but decent enough.

At the time I didnt have a job so I figured thats something to pass the time.. Took me a month or two..For an older engine its not that crazy.

My father and brotehr are absolute petrolheads, so I did grow up with it.
Only started to like cars the last years, I especially like all the engingeering going into them.
And you know what, have my follow on Instagram

Thanks :)

Looking at new technologies being developed and manufacturers creating new improvements where we thought there would be none, is really something. For example, infiniti built and engine that can change compression ratio when driving. That solves a lot of problems that has been around for ages. Reduced wear of cylinder walls, balanced 4-cyl engines, lower emissions and fuel economy, while retaining big power figures at high loads.
koenigsegg working on their free valve system that doesnt use conventional camshafts. Reduces weight, a lot more precise fuel injection..
Even at its surface without getting into much depth engineering is magnificent and interesting

Well, as a child I really cared for cars, but that got lost and I haven't even worked on the license. Yet I can't ignore the topic, since I'm working for a car manufacturer.

I'm not using Instagram, but I hope you find a few followers to gather further motivation! Thanks for the interesting train! :)

I kinda gave up on them. First my family tried to teach me to drive a standard car, it was a toyota, I almost run over some kids. Then an automatic ford truck, it was easier, I did some highway trials but I kept forgetting turning off and on my directionals and one day I smashed some store publicity that was beside the road. Then, two times, I tried motorcycle, 2 times I crashed seconds after turning it on.

I gave up. Then I tried ATVs and I loved them, never crashed them and I learned to do wheelies with them. Now I am a happy man using public transportation.

Thanks for the giveaways!

Sorry to hear that youve had such a rough road with vehicles, but I suppose its not for everyone :)
But at least you found your comfort zone with ATVs.

Havent ridden ATV myself.. I enjoy driving bikes, too. But somehow chance to try out ATV hasnt come up.

First car: 1992 Honda Civic - It had manual everything, the least powerful engine ever, and it burned oil like crazy, but it was a car.
Favorite car: 2008 Scion tC - My first new car, first manual car, first hatchback, loved everything about it.
Current car: 2012 VW JSW TDI - Nice and roomy, also manual. Diesel power! Absolutely terrible in snow, though. Mindbogglingly terrible.

My Honda burned oil, too. But cant complain about power. at least on paper it has 200 HP. But to be honest civics with their little engines perform decently because of their small weight.. Little tune up and you have yourself one powerful lightweight sports car :D

And how reliable has your VW been ? Ive seen many cases thus far with VW being really great, reliable. And also cases where its been far belove quality wise than it should be.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, my '92 Civic had a 1.5 L engine putting out a heart-stopping 102 hp. It had power breaks AND steering!

The VW JSW TDI has been pretty reliable thus far. The dash rattles more than I'd like on bumpy roads, but the only issue so far was the diesel modification recall. Something went wrong during the diesel modification, and I had to take it back to the dealer repeatedly before they finally figured out what was wrong and corrected it. The car spent over a month at the dealer, but it's working fine in the end.

Though I have had another issue recently with the battery dying on me, but it has been 5 years, so maybe it just needs to be replaced.
