Been looking around and couldn't find a clear answer.

Does anyone know whats the chance of getting booster packs related to your steam level?

I think its +50% weight added to your chance per 10 levels. Not 100% sure, though, and the chance doesn't mean anything if people aren't crafting the badges for a given game.

60% of the time, they drop every time.

Level 10: +20% increase in your drop rate
Level 20: +40% increase in your drop rate
Level 30: +60% increase in your drop rate
Level 40: +80% increase in your drop rate
Level 50: +100% increase in your drop rate (i.e. the rate has doubled)
Etc.

Other than the chance supposedly going up 20% for each 10 levels, no.

If my understanding is correct that a booster pack is produced when badges are crafted for a given game, your base chance would obviously be dependent on how many people owned and had made the cards drop for each game that you are also eligible for.

Then your level compared to everyone else who owned that game would have to be taken into account. Might be wrong, but I'd presume that would be a factor too.

Theory: 20% up with each 10 level up, clicky; Reality: Not related at all.

Yeh but what is +%100 chance at level 50?
Is there a higher chance than +%100?
Does %100 chance mean you always get a drop?

It's not unknown, it's exactly: 1/x

where x is number of people eligible for boosters

Edit: You need to scale x by everyones drop chance too.

Is this correct? Is there only one booster generated per craft?
Because there are generally about a third of the cards required for a badge in a booster, so...

Otherwise though, I think you're exactly right.

If chance were 1% then +100% is 1% + (1 * 1%) = 2% :P

Ofc not; when someone craft a bagde for certain game, someone (1 random acc) who is eligible for drop from that game, might get a booster pack, depending on saturation of the cards on the market. Watching drops since beta on my acc which always had "high level" and other household and friends accs to whom I gave games to idle cards for me, I didn't notice that higher chance, in fact some of them got some boosters for games that I didn't on my acc.
In theory it is working as lotto tickets; everyone who is eligible has, for easier calculation lets say 5 unique tickets; if you up your level to 10th level you gain 20% or in this example you gain one lotto ticket more (you have 6 now); if you up to 20th, you gain 40% which is 2 tickets more, you have 7 total, and so on and on... 20% addon functions like bank interest, only on sum you began with.

That's correct. If you're eligible for a booster, you just get it. You don't even have to be online at the moment you get it...

What? Is this real? Can i get a source for this please?
How can you get to 50 if you don't get boosters, then ? Buying them on the market? I'm a newbie when it comes to crafting badges.

basicly you get cards from game drops / exchanging with other players and yes, buying on the market.

I know how you get cards. I was talking about the booster ones. Since all games have a limited card drop and the rest are obtained from boosters or market.

Guys, have a look at that: http://steamcommunity.com/tradingcards/faq

Level 10: +20% increased chance of booster packs
Level 20: +40% increased chance of booster packs
Level 30: +60% increased chance of booster packs
Level 40: +80% increased chance of booster packs
Level 50: +100% increased chance of booster packs (meaning your chances are duplicated)
etc.

i am lvl 16 got 3 packs. have a friend he is lvl 11 he got 19 packs he did not even open 11 of them ^^ so i am not sure if those chances in % are real.

You both have the same chance. The percentage increases again at 20, and neither of you are there.

Keep in mind, it's a chance, not a guarantee. Luck does come into it, as does the number of games he is eligible for for boosters vs the number you are eligible for.

Noob question...you have to play the game to get the booster pack or it just appears out of nowhere?

You have to login to Steam. That's it.

Everything being asked in this whole thread is on the trading card FAQ. Did anyone bother reading it?

I have read it but wasn't sure about it...and where didn't get any in some months in which I didn't played the games after I received the cards wasn't sure if they drop like cards or just receive them

you can get an booster when someone of the comunity crafts a badge ergo crafting a badge spawns an booster to someone in the comunity

It just appears out of nowhere. I mean, you don't get a pack if you keep playing the game. I got mine at random. I hadn't even played the game once that week.

1 decade ago
Permalink

they just appear. you only have to have crafted a badge for that game

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Not even that. I never crafted a badge and have had at least one booster pack drop. You only need to have a game in your account that has already dropped all its cards.

exactly.

How can I get a booster pack?
Once you have received all of your card drops, you become eligible for a booster pack, which is a set of 3 trading cards that may include both basic and foil cards. Booster packs are granted randomly to eligible users as more badges are crafted by members of the community. Make sure you log in to Steam each week to maintain eligibility.
