I had lots of fun playing L4D2 years ago and I thought it would be a good idea to play some more. I couldn't be more wrong due to the game being infested with the following categories of players:

a) 2-5k hours of playtime frustrated kiddies
b) just kiddies
c) rage quitters
d) retards (sorry for using this word)

It used to be a completely different game, but now it's, to put it bluntly, an utterly atrocious experience. If you don't have your own party, you'll get thrown into a septic tank.
On the other hand, though, the problem with high ping servers seems to be fixed.

An obligatory key drop: C526I-EE7GW-6DADB (Alien Breed 2)

I still enjoy it, I install tons of different mods, there is a GTA V and Touhou I like most, also some extra cool campaign maps and Minecraft weapons, thought with friends, I didn't played a lot of multiplayer really, but I have 150 hours of play time.

I thought this post would be about a problem I have with L4D2 now.
But I guess I'm the only one who mods games to hell and back until They are unplayable.

That's people, no surprise.

Play with friends or find some new friends by adding players you like from public servers.

Up until last year or so I played the crap out of L4D2. Out of all internet coop games I've tried so far, it is (was?) the best for a quick game. And that's coming from a mostly-solo-type of player, who also played L4D2 during its newbie-infested f2p period.

Unless your description is based on campaign with random people on Expert mode. In that case, I agree with you there.

Friend that loves this game gifted it to me during sale.
So i tried playing solo and got kicked after less than 10min,whats wrong with those people taking the game seriously? and there is not even "competitive" mode like in CS:GO or ranks or anything really.
I mostly play with friends when they invite me,last time friend hosted dedi i think and we had some fun.
Overall its good game as long as you play it with friends.

Dear OP. Given your tone, it would appear you are just as much part of the problem. Especially seeing as you used "kiddies" twice.

You are clearly frustrated, yet hold people who are frustrated in disdain. Frustration in large enough amounts (or frequent enough) makes 'rage-quitters' out of a lot of people. Retards, as you put them, may simply be inexperienced people, or those simply trying tactics you don't agree with. People under pressure make more mistakes, and nothing generates pressure like that one teammate who can't help but be scathing over the smallest of hiccups.

Left 4 Dead has always been a gamble when grouping publicly, especially on versus mode. Being highly judgmental towards other plays will only make the frustration levels worse for all concerned. There were plenty of times back when I used to play, that people would throw votekicks the second that a teammate didn't "follow orders" exactly to the letter, without question or disagreement AND succeed, even if the 'orders' were bad. Even good players can make bad calls. Even good players can simply get outplayed or have bad matches.

When you take the time to underline every negative, all it ever does is massively demoralise people, and that just doesn't help. Part of the game is that you have to adapt to your team as much to the enemy. Sometimes the group you end up with aren't going to be familiar with the sharpest edge of the metagame and Pro-Run Strategy X-2. Sure, getting stomped badly enough (or ending up in a bad match-up) can make the game tedious, and that was one of the big drawbacks of the L4D series, but the moment you start stomping your feet and lose your cool, everything will go sour, and you'll naturally haemorrhage any players that join you.

Not saying that being around certain players isnt' like pulling teeth. I'm saying that I've met waaaaay more obnoxious perfectionist try-hards that have ruined games due to their attitudes than I have players who ruined the game just by being sub-par.

tl;dr :
There is another class of players that severely detriment the game. Hyper-critical Ragers.

you have to look for some players go to the steam forums or post here looking for players and tell them what you are looking for in playing and even sometimes this method takes a couple tries to find enough friends that you can play with on a regular basis or when ever you like to play

usually when i post looking for players i tell them what i am looking for out of the game

like for Borderlands i am clear that i am only looking to play for fun and to level up and do some boss mining but i also make it clear that i do not accept loot ninjas and all rare loot goes in shifts u

so when looking for other players just state what your looking for in players and conduct rules

Did you play it on versus mode? If so, then I think if you play the campaign mode, there will be less rage quitters players and kiddies. And if you don't want to play with "retard", you can play it on advance or expert difficulty.
Anyway, I can't stand against cheaters especially on versus mode!

Ha, I used to play the game and I found it to be crazy fun, waaay much better then CS games for example.

But shortly after it became free things changed. I always had some problems in finding players I could play well with but since that moment things got worse.
Rude and idling players or players that did nothing to help. Moreover they were just watching and laughing and planing to get your medkit or defib when you die :| Your last description kinda sums it all.

Along side these problems, I start experiencing technical issues after a few updates: game lagging or freezing, players getting stuck in weird places or in the middle of the field, with nothing around.

The AI in single player went 'nuts' as well: freezing or getting stuck or worse, shooting me instead of the zombies :| That was the moment when I quit playing.

Unfortunately, I experienced the same thing in TF2, after it became free but worse since there were players idling and farming. And I actually paid for the game since I hate f2p games and I wouldn't play them.

Dear OP,

You clearly don't play with the proper group of people. The key to enjoying any online FPS is making friends with friendly players who know what they're doing. They, in turn, know other such people. I continue to enjoy playing Left 4 Dead 2 because I don't keep anti-social people on my friends list. I suggest you try that.

Playing with friends is the way to go dude, maybe there's some friendly playergroups you can find through this place? I only play coop shooters with friends these days but trying to get my buddies to focus on one game even for a couple of hours is like trying to herd cats >.<

Funny because i just found a kid in l4d2 today that almost got to the helicopter but he went down even though he was on it and he raged so hard since the game counted him as dead.

Yeah. There are a handful of decent people I've met through L4D2 and I mainly only play with them.

I just had enough of russians that kicked me out because I didn't speak in russian to them and also there wasn't proper server browser like in counter-strike. It just automatically throwed me into russian servers, because those were closest...
