Just curious what other stuff is out there, that I'm missing... These two I only just found out about/watched and they've definitely become some of my all-time favourite film/shows. :D

TV:

  • Peaky Blinders: This show is amazing, and on par with shows such as Mr. Robot and Sherlock. With Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Annabelle Wallis... And it's quickly become one of my favourite shows of all time. And what's more, is I only first heard about it a few weeks ago, and it's been out two years and is made by the BBC. (I live in the UK...). It's about a a gang in Birmingham, set just after WW1, and follows their rise. It has an amazing cast, and man is it intense.

Film:

  • Dredd: This film bombed in the box office, and really didn't do well at all. I blame this mostly on it's stupid advertising campaign, I remember seeing the trailers for it in 2012 and having no interest whatsoever. It just looked like a crappy 3D flick. But wow, was I wrong... This film is amazing. With Karl Urban, Lena Headey, Domhnall Gleeson and many more amazing actors. And sure, it hasn't got the most interesting plot, and there's not really any major twists to it. But to me it doesn't need them. It does just fine without them, and I think this film just serves as living proof that not every film has to be unique, or particularly compelling story-wise. What it shines at, is the action. The badass, kickass, ruthless, merciless, action. It stays true to the comics. And is easily one of the most rewatchable films ever.

EDIT: Problems with key. :/

Not sure if it's still on Netflix, but the movie Tangshan dadizhen (Aftershock) is heartbreaking but very good. It's about the aftermath of the 1976 Tangshan earthquake. I know it was a big film in China, but I haven't heard of anybody else talk about it, specifically in the US.

For tv shows, IMO the 100 and orphan black are incredible underrated shows :3

I've watched a bit of the 100. The start wasn't that great for me, but I keep hearing that it got better. So will check it out. Orphan Black does look very interesting though! Highly rated and the first I've heard of it.What's it about/how dark is it? :D

GA is up now btw.

First of all, thanks for the giveaway.

Second, I often hear people complaining about the first few episodes of the 100, but I dunno. I loved that show from the first second and I still love it. Its really dark and simply amazing. It might not be on the "level" of breaking bad or game of thrones, but everyone who enjoys good shows should watch it when they get the time.

And last but not least, Orphan black. Yea. Also a fucking masterpiece, if you dont mind my language. Even if you dont get intrigued by the story (although you probably will), you should stay for the incredible acting of Tatiana Maslany, who for some reason still hasnt gotten an oscar or something. She plays about EIGHT DIFFERENT CHARACTERS in that show. Yes, you read that correctly. EIGHT. CHARACTERS. Each with their story, life and personality. The point of the show is that there are these clones of the same women who were made through a project and then these women clones start meeting each other and decide to find out what is happening. Not sure how much dark it is :3 Watched it a long time ago so cant really explain it very well. Which reminds me - I should watch orphan black again :D

Millennium

Btw I like Lena Headey a lot since The Cave. ^ ^

Yes, Millennium! It was always overshadowed by the X-Files (both from the same creator, Chris Carter), and it was too dark and disturbing for many people, way more so than the X-Files. I miss Frank Black.

I so much like Millennium and it's such a pity the suits shut it down after the third season.

I love this series and it made me appreciate Lance Henriksen even more.

It was so nice to see Frank and Jordan Black again in that crossover episode with Mulder and Scully.

The Adventures of Brisco County Jr was an awesome show back in the days but you rarely hear about it now a days.

Agree with you on this. I rather enjoyed the show when it used to be aired long ago. And your comment is one of the first mentions of it I can remember in years.

I hope you like it. The first season is a really good show about pirates doing pirate things. The second and third season though.. absolute works of art!

I'm watching it because there's not much else to watch tbh.

My main problem with it that it looks too polished. Characters are kinda cheesy. Characters are too good looking, white teeth and makeup. Not how I picture pirates..... And the story is kinda meh.... But, I'll be watching next season so it cant be all that bad ;)
I like the 18+ setting though.

Nothing more ridiculous than GoT's "play with her butt" pandering. Certainly nowhere near Spartacus levels of nudity/dialogue

Came here to post this. Seriously one of the best shows currently running. The production value is insane.

Wholeheartedly agree with Dredd, what a pleasant surprise it was!

I reccomend Warsaw 44 (Miasto 44) Totally underpreciated, different from hollywood blockbusters, however with great production values and most importantedly, raw, disturbing experience which you just can't stop watching even though it is most uneasy at times..

One point O - good movie that's been under the radar for most people
Wizard of darkness - most japanese movie i've seen, for better or for worse
Helter skelter 2012 - a disturbing view on beauty standards, not a serious movie, at all
The company of wolves - whoever rated this so low does not understand symbolism, found it to be a very delicate movie about loss of innocence
Dagon -feels like Lovecraft, it's not lovecraft, but i swear it's a good movie...call of cthullu does it better ill admit that

2015 Infini and from 2013 Europa Report both low budget SciFi
also 2012 Arbitrage, 2011 Shame, 2011 God Bless America and 2013 Enemy

series? can't think of any that haven't high ratings...

TV: Dollhouse

Movies: All Mel Brooks and ZAZ (Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker) movies. I don't think they bombed in the box office but I've come across enough people that doesn't know this golden age of comedy movies. I still love watching "Top Secret!" and "Airplane!". These are must have.

Guess one series that is "under-rated" / unknown because it was canceled, thanks writer's strike would be Life

Made 2 seasons, but I really saw promise in the story-line of the series. Oh well =(

Well The Raid is probably the reason why Dredd is so overlooked, because the plot is kinda the same, enter a building full of bad people, betrayal and non stop action, the main difference would be the empty handed vs all gun blazing thing. Dredd is actually good but I don't understand why some guys like the Stallone one better :(

Raid is much better, that is the reason.... Dredd didn't bring anything new, but I liked it anyway

I'm pretty terrible at recommending stuff on demand- I always just forget a great show or movie exists until I hear it mentioned again... especially underrated or little-known stuff.
So, the only thing I've got for you right now that hasn't already been mentioned is Last Action Hero, a Schwarzenegger flick that seems to be pretty universally disliked, but I thought it was ingenious and fun when I saw it around a year and a half ago (but the kid is obnoxious tbh).
Oh, and Jack The Giant Slayer was a good (and more recent) one.
