Just curious what other stuff is out there, that I'm missing... These two I only just found out about/watched and they've definitely become some of my all-time favourite film/shows. :D

TV:

  • Peaky Blinders: This show is amazing, and on par with shows such as Mr. Robot and Sherlock. With Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Annabelle Wallis... And it's quickly become one of my favourite shows of all time. And what's more, is I only first heard about it a few weeks ago, and it's been out two years and is made by the BBC. (I live in the UK...). It's about a a gang in Birmingham, set just after WW1, and follows their rise. It has an amazing cast, and man is it intense.

Film:

  • Dredd: This film bombed in the box office, and really didn't do well at all. I blame this mostly on it's stupid advertising campaign, I remember seeing the trailers for it in 2012 and having no interest whatsoever. It just looked like a crappy 3D flick. But wow, was I wrong... This film is amazing. With Karl Urban, Lena Headey, Domhnall Gleeson and many more amazing actors. And sure, it hasn't got the most interesting plot, and there's not really any major twists to it. But to me it doesn't need them. It does just fine without them, and I think this film just serves as living proof that not every film has to be unique, or particularly compelling story-wise. What it shines at, is the action. The badass, kickass, ruthless, merciless, action. It stays true to the comics. And is easily one of the most rewatchable films ever.

EDIT: Problems with key. :/

Peaky Blinders. This show is amazing, and on par with shows such as Mr. Robot and Sherlock.

I actually like it a lot better than Sherlock and the little I saw of Mr.Robot. It reminds me a lot of Ripper Street, another wonderful and imho underrated British tv series.

I recommend the film Black Death from 2010 starring Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, and Carice Van Houten. Now household names, this was before any of them besides Mr.Bean were well known. It's not a great movie, nor is it totally historically accurate, but it is a good movie and should please fellow fans of medieval-themed cinema.

I've tried, unsuccessfully, to get into Ripper Street a few times; might have to give it another go as I just recently finished marathoning the History Channel's "Vikings".

It's very much a "slow burn" show. Now that all the seasons are finally out in the US it's a lot easier to watch it in chunks:)

Aw and..
Peaky Blinders I never watched but it reminded me of the movie "Legend".
No, not with Tom Cruise (acceptable to watch not in the least because of Mia Sara) but the recent one with Tom Hardy.
Nice movie with great work from Hardy. Dunno if underrated. Prob not, seeing the imdb-rating (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3569230/combined)

Yeah my sister keeps telling me how much I need to watch that show. I told her that when she finally sits down and watches The Wire from beginning to end I will start The Americans:)

"The Americans" on FX is superb and deserves more viewers. It is one of the few shows that I don't feel like the characters repeat themselves and get dumber with time to the point that I can't take it anymore and stop watching

The Firefly known as most underrated...but now its a cult.
I think Rome should be more appreciated.... it was a perfect show, with so much great historical details (not story-wise, I mean costumes, utensil, etc)

It's much harder to name "most" underrated movie... but here is few titles I believe deserved more love: Dark City (1998), The Hunt (2012), Amour (2012), Cold in July (2014), Stretch (2014), Metropolitan (1990)

Since Lost I didn't watch anymore TV Shows. I tried couple episodes of Prison Break and Twin Peaks, but I didn't feel so immersed as much as I watched Lost.

Could go for the usual. Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, Sopranos, The Wire.
Lost was great, the last 1-2 seasons were just utter crap sadly :/

  • HBO's Rome and Deadwood

For anime TVshows I'd say:

  • Seirei no Moribito

For Films, I'd go with:

  • animation: Le roman de Renard & Heroic Times

  • live films: Zift, Ararat, Klopca, Career Girls to name a few

Rome is brilliant, but I wouldn't call it underrated. It did very well and is still well known.

Maybe, however I keep finding people all the time in my everyday life who have watched tons of series (like 50+++ or 100++ ) and they still skipped on that gem. Most didn't even know it existed... That does qualify it for underwatched right? At least I thought so... Also the fact that they dropped the series after 2 seasons was mainly due to poor funds, and the fact it did NOT have enough people watching to warrant continuation. Such a shame for such a perfect execution regarding the Rome era.

+1 for Deadwood, vastly underrated. It's like Shakespeare...as a western...with swearing!

Seven Days is a pretty cool time-travel based series that no-one seems to have seen.

For films, Dredd gets my vote too. Sure, it's an uncomplicated action flick plot-wise, but a) the action is excellent and b) the setting is well done and fairly faithful to the comics. (Well, apart from the wider views of Megacity-1 which is still very much being built up in the movie).
Also, Karl Urban manages to portray a lot of subtleties trough body language and his lower face, which really sells Dredd as a stoic hardliner who's probably seen a bit too much already.

Guys with Kids. Despite sounding lame, it has geniunely good humor in it. Unlike some other shows... I'm looking at you almost every show made by comedy central in recent years.

I think it's more overrated than underrated. I like it at times, but watching more than two episodes in a week feels like torture.

Just had to say that I love Peaky Blinders. Cillian Murphy ALWAYS amazes; one of the most under rated actors out there right now.

Killjoys, The Expanse, The Last Kingdom, The Badlands, and Netflix's Hell's Kitchen shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones) really stand out for me as new series to keep an eye on [hoping for future seasons]. The Shannara Chronicles was a fair bit of fun as well, especially if you grew up on the books.

I told myself I'd read the books The Expanse is based upon before I watched the show because they've been on my "to-read" list for, eh, at least 4 years. I am bad at reading SF these days.

Defendor. Rated mediocre or bad in some sites and never got the attention it deserves. Woody Harrelson is the protagonist and he plays a troubled man that thinks he is invincible, so he becomes a super hero in order to defeat the person that he thinks he took away his mother. A truly great movie. You're going to love it.
If you want to hear about a totally underrated movie though, then this is 10,000 BC. I mean, ok, maybe it wasn't that great, although I loved it, but the critics destroyed it in their reviews.

Honestly I figured out that watching TV shows is so time consuming. People move from one TV show to another, season by season. I know one person who records the majority of TV shows from HBO, but watches only some of them.

For crime, action and a good story I recommend Profugos from HBO Chile. Season 1 has English subtitles, I havent found season 2 subtitles yet.
Scandinavian suspense/crime: Bronn/Broen aka The Bridge. Again, subtitles needed but they are widely available. 3 Seasons atm, the 1st is the best.

And Justified

And I agree with Dredd. Awesome movie.

I guess I have bad taste... :) I don't re-watch many movies, but I always seem to re-watch Catwoman even though it got 3.3 / 10 on IMDB. Also have to admit I enjoyed Battlefield Earth which got 2.4 on IMDB
