Stealth:
There's an arrow sticking out of my head. 5 seconds later: I must be imagining things.

I installed a sniper rifle mod in skyrim and I shot a guy's crotch like 3 times and all he did was running around with blood stained pants for 5 seconds.....I think he's a she.

I love stealth games, but most I play are console exclusives. One you can look at is Alpha Protocol, which can be played as a stealth build.

I'm not really a stealth enthusiast but no doubt about it, I enjoy a good stealth game. I really love games like Hitman and FarCry where I can choose to be stealthy or go in guns blazing. One thing I really love in stealth games is how intense it gets. I remember playing the original Splinter Cell on gamecube. I would be sneaking slowly in the shadows, accidentally go a bit fast and the enemies nearby would come to see what it was. That was really intense how you're sitting in the corner as the enemy walks closer and closer to you as you hope that he stops and walks back.

definitely, you don't have to be a prey in Amnesia to feel the fear of being detected. The progress you made even though was just a stealthy of one guy could be lost if some douche raises the alarm.

I love stealth games. If the game gives me the option I'll always play stealthily. If I had to recommend a stealth game, I'd recommend the original Deus Ex. The real party begins once you get the cloak aug.

mentioned it and played it, that game was surprisingly good and addicting. it's one of those game I remain sneaky throughout the whole game

This might sound a little silly, but my first Fallout 3 playthrough was a stealth one (high lockpicking stats too)

silent assassin was too hard for 12 yo me :( did not finish it. I never got to play splinter cell 1-3, double agent was the 1st one I played and it was both torturing and rewarding (not sure why a lot of people hate it, I definitely enjoy it)

my friend keeps nagging about its last mission, sth about stopping a nuclear warhead. haha, okay I will put it on my wishlist, might even end up buying in the summer sale. thanks!

Chaos Theory is the best Splinter Cell game and Contracts is the best Hitman game. You must play them.

well I was 12yo, sometimes I needed my brother to actually help me through some missions because he knew so many secret places. double agent was not that bad...I think. I really like the sound-light meter thing.

nah, it's super good. I was being all merciful and dashing through the map instead of killing everyone. it's the rats as a consequence of killing that annoyed me so I minimized my killing as much as possible

Seriously? If you're detected in Dishonored you're screwed. Engaging 3-4 enemies at once will result in you meeting your demise most of the time. Also Blink is the core of this game. You can finish the game by only using Blink. It gives you many different approach opportunities and makes the game uniqe.

correct, I did many experiments on how to kill people with blink: form behind, in front of their face, from some place higher then jump down, even random places to confuse the whole group than execute one by one

Well, there aren't many stealth pure games out there, but I would say that Crysis series are stealthy if you wish to play it stealthy. Crysis 3 that was released this year has great stealth in it, it gives you a choice between stealth or mass massacre. It's the same element Deus ex HR had, you can play either the stealthy way or the "wild" way. But some games prefer you to play the stealthy way as they reward you much more if you play it in a stealth way. Hitman abso' was decent, I wouldn't say amazing or good because it had issues, but the point system was a pain in the ass, if they would add an option where you could remove it and play how you want it would be great.

Yeah I really like stealth games, Mark of the ninja is really good and inovative, DXHR is crazy fun I had a blast playing it, but splinter cell conviction wasn't bad, double agent was solid, but chaos theory is a masterpiece! I'm not sure if SC Blacklist will get to the chaos theory level, because it looks like a strange mix of conviction and simplified stealth from Chaos T. But all in all I enjoy stealth games and love to play every game {that offers a choice} in that way.

I think every game should have at least mild stealth elements if applicable, such as enemies not being able to know where you are at all times and such.
In general, I love stealth games and I loved the old MGS chapters, like the first MGS for PSX and Snake Eater later on. I'm still waiting for a survival sealth game worthy of its label.

I hear lots of good things abt State of Decay though I honestly prefer actual living being to undead. If they could make it other post-apocalyptic survivors then I'm sold!

So, let's have a discussion about stealth games! I think that though there are not many purely stealth games recently but most of them are still very well executed. Great examples are Dishonored, Deus Ex HR, and Mark of the Ninja.
There is also an obvious trend of actions integrated into a game that can be play sneakily including firefights and/or assault abilities after a stealthy execution such as Far Cry 3, Splinter Cell Conviction, Hitman Absolution. Though I enjoy the torture Double Agent and Blood Money put me through, the new direction is quite admirable and I respect it because the stealth mechanics remained intact and players have the option to chose their own MO.
Some other honorable mentions are Batman Arkham City, Assassin's Creed (you can remain incognito the whole mission if you are careful enough), and Skyrim if you play as an assassin.
Though here is an issue I have: if I stick to a stealthy MO throughout the game, it feels so fast and therefore shortens the game length and/or bores me quickly after a few first adrenaline rushes due to successful attempts of being sneaky. For example, I just used a lot of Blink in dishonored and I could totally dash through the map without killing anyone and/or getting detected. The same goes to Far Cry 3, a good sniper rifle and a full stock of Molotov would mean an easy takeover for almost any stronghold. There are exceptions such as Mark of the Ninja and Deus Ex HR due to their level design are so versatile that every area feels like a new challenge.
I also am not much of a stalker so I failed miserably in Hitman Aboslution too :3
Do you have any issue with stealth games? Are you a stealth enthusiast? Any suggestion for a good stealth game would also be appreciated!
Edit: forgot to mention this but Legacy of Kain is also a good series of stealth games (my favorite is blood omen 2). If only Square Enix advocated Crystal Dynamics to make the next installment :(
