Just now SteamGifts is giving me "Please switch to a public Steam profile before attempting to sync. This can be done by updating your Steam privacy settings as seen below." when attempting to sync.

Everything on my Steam profile is public and always has been. Syncing has never failed before even after the Steam profile change.

What gives?

I know he means that. I mentioned it in my post. That was a month ago. Everything on my profile has been public ever since, and SG has been syncing fine since until just now.

I get that occasionally, it's like when there's a sync error the SteamGifts system assumes it's due to the new privacy settings, when I try again a few minutes later it usually works fine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No yeah, can confirm I have the same problem. At first, I fixed it by unchecking the playtime box. Now it's back, I guess ._.

Apparently Steam (or SG) has temporary hiccups, I'd suggest trying again in a few minutes.

Try again in 30 mins to one hour.
Sometimes steamgifts fails to sync to steam, and takes it that your profile may be private even if it may not be.
Happened to me twice this week so far.
