Can you demystify puzzles?
Can you discern riddles for games?
Using basic cryptography,
Simply hidden in the open.
Can you unmask vital cypher?

The key aspect you need to focus on to solve this pizzle is the syllables of each line
here is clue split up by syllables

Can you de·mys·ti·fy puz·zles?
Can you dis·cern rid·dles for games?
Us·ing ba·sic cryp·tog·ra·phy,
Sim·ply hid·den in the o·pen.
Can you un·mask vi·tal cy·pher?

counting each syllables give you the following numbers

1,1,4,2
1,1,2,2,1,1
2,2,4
2,2,1,1,2
1,1,2,2,2

Next you need to notice that the sum of all these lines is eight. this should suggest, among other possibilities, binary, which is 8 bits
When encoding alpha numeric characters in binary the first number will always be 0 (see attached table) the numbers tell you the numbers of 1s and 0s in the binary digits.
Translating the numbers to binary we get

01000011
01001101
00110000
00110100
01001100

which then you can convert to ASCII using a table or a covert er app in the internet, the results give you

Well start with the basic. How many lines are there?

There's almost an unlimited number of possibilities with "the basic". Any more hints?

Not today, I'll be adding further clues at time goes on, until there are a few solvers.

Ok. With 0 entries, yet, that might take a while though. Thanks anyways, I'll be waiting.

A trick question! "there" is a word, not a series of lines.

But giving a perplexing clue
Can hopefully give some insight

No more hints at this point, I've provided enough that people have started solving it.

I'm at a loss too, the puzzle stuff is a great thing on here but my dyslexia is specific to visual awareness - I struggle to see patterns. Like one of the others I'd like to know the approach after this closes, it might help my thought process.

I've seen Zelgh's guide and it helped me about 90% through someone else's puzzle which used a couple of things then it seemed like you need to know how the puzzles work here to get the next step.

Good luck to whoever gets through!

Thanks for that, not sure I would have ever got that but at least I knew it was in the words themselves (had checked source and such already).

Think I need to look into the puzzles a bit more

Wow, I'm really surprised anyone solved this. I only found out each line had 8 syllables because it was mentioned in the comments. Then I figured each syllable would be a 1 or 0 for binary and converted into the 5 character code, but I didn't know how to figure out the correct binary. I did some research and found out there are closed and open syllables which is determined by the syllable ending with a consonant or vowel and I tried decoding it that way, but I could never get a working code.
