To me, an unused key or game feels like a waste, like an untapped source of someones joy, and it irks me when I have these and they're not being used. That's the main reason I came here.
I found my way onto SG because I had quite a few keys for games that I already owned, and several copies of games on Steam that I couldn't find any use for, so I Googled and found quite a few sites like this one, and I tried a few but settled in here and lost the others.
I stayed here (and let the other sites go) because of the community. Most of the people here seems to feel the same way about their unused keys/games, and share freely. Most people here are friendly, funny, helpful, and really warm towards each other - and that's the main reason why I sometimes buy full priced titles with the sole purpose of sharing them here - the people of the community.
Nah man, I'm not saying it's perfect, there's a few trolls, and sometimes even I get annoyed and leave an... shall we call it an 'un-thought through comment' somewhere, and the site does have a few issues, but the difference with this place and many others is that most of those times it doesn't careen out of control, there aren't too many flame wars here.
And I win games. Some bad, some good, but always something new to look forward to.
That's why I give games here.

Still better this way, some of past GA:s have been fully priced without being so called AAA-titles.
Seems to be my day of misunderstandings when it comes to you.
First I thought you had strange ideas of how to eat a chicken properly, and now this.
Time for me to go to sleep and rest this useless piece of biological crap called a brain =)!

It's a way to fill your selfish desires of generosity. It's like charity without a subject or a real cost. Don't get me wrong, some are actually selfless here, but the majority aren't.
Plus, the CV system allows you access to higher level giveaways, which in turn grant you a higher chance of winning.

Because if warms my heart when some poor soul with 3000 games takes a game I paid money for, adds it to his collection with no intention of playing and doesn't even thank me for it?
Nah I kid. Honestly... for the most part we all buy more games than we can ever play and it's nice to share, even if it is just leftover keys from the bundles you buy.

Yes, a visit from space cat every once in a while is thrilling. ;-)

About three quarters of the users here derive sexual gratification from giving games. The other twenty five percent gets off on "pony play". This place is packed with perverts and it's gross! It's like I'm the only normal one that slathers myself in butter before doing the deed!!

The 25% that gets off on 'pony play' pay me for art commissions that I use to fund my giveaways. It's a functional ecosystem - but I do scrub myself really hard when I shower...

Thanks! I forgot about the 1-2% that like to scrub themselves really hard in the shower.

We still have feelings and we still have cats that would eventually starve if we died once our corpses were no longer edible.

It seems cute when my cat licks me, like she's cleaning me. However, your comment reminds me that I've had this sneaking suspicion growing in the back of mind over the past four months or so that I'm being tasted. :/

At first it was because it made me happy. Now it's just to justify my leeching. I enter and win a lot of great games, and I like to give back to the community when I can. The rest of the time (bundled trash, etc) is just because I don't need it.

Personally for me:

Because Santa was mean to me once. He really hurt my feelings. But I vowed to show him. I would show them all! I would take my revenge by being a better giver of gifts than Santa ever was!
I've got some ways to go yet, especially when it comes to brand recognition.

Some people give away games because they're nice.
Some people give away games because they want to.

Whats the point in giving away games? Why do so many people do it? What is in it for them?
