So after many years of not being able to beat any of them, last month I finally beat RE 2 (remake) and yesterday I beat RE 7.

I was wondering which of the games in the franchise SG users liked best.

Note- If you play RE 7, use the Japanese voice actors as it adds to the true creep factor.

I think you mean Code Veronica.
Code Veronica was the original on the Dreamcast, People don't seem to want to acknowledge that one exists as they only know Code Veronica X on the PS2.

I would place Operation Racoon City under Average, and move Resident Evil 5 to Good, esp if you have the Untold stories dlc
Resident Evil 6 is also Good
You may want to differentiate between Resident Evil 3 original and the remake...because the original is great

I've only beaten resident evil 5 and 6. I've played a bit of the 1st one though and the 1st rev ones. I believe it was the 1st and not the 2nd but it doesnt matter since I hated it.

Without much competition to go off I really liked 6. People really don't like it and wish it wasn't apart from the series but I enjoyed it alot. It's the only re game I played solo after I beat it in coop. It's probably also because I don't like number 5. Even after watching a youtuber play it I just don't like the 5th instalment. The only part of 6 I never played was the ada playthrough and thats because it was single player, it now has coop mode as a nameless nobody but at the time I just couldn't play it

I played all the Resident Evil games on PSX (except the first one) and Code Veronica. 2, 3 and Code Veronica are pretty good (with 3 being my favourite). Avoid Gun Survivor though, that one is garbage.

OG 2 and REmake are probably my 2 favorite ones.
4-5-6 in that order pretty much for the action sides of it even if i think 5-6 can be more fun COOP and 4 is overrated. Still 4 is the way to go for single player!
0-3-CV are good but they change it around a bit so might be a harder sell for people.
Revelations 1-2 are both really good IMO but the first one was made for a hand held so it might feel a bit bare compared to what you expect. I knew that so i had 0 issues with it.

Resistance, Umbrella Corps = Garbage as said above.
Operation Raccoon City could be fun with people? I only tried it solo and my enjoyment with the bots made me quit before the first mission was done. I don't think you miss anything if you skip it.

Resident Evil 1 HD remake for the peak of classic survival horror mechanics.
RE4 for the peak of third person action-horror.

Then definitely RE4; it has some tense moments, but for the most part it's just stupid fun, with cheesy dialogue and great gameplay. It's also my favorite in the series, and just happens to be my favorite game of all time :D

Hmm, I would say RE6. It has 4 different campaigns, and 2 of them are purely action campaigns. One is melee focused combat, one is a kind of a cover shooter, and one is a little bit more horror themed (although still a fast paced shooter). I don't like the game very much, but if it suits you, I think it's the least scary RE.

The first 3 games is the reason that I loved the series. In spite of the tank controls (they weren't feeling so unnatural at that time, like they should today) the fixed camera was adding a claustrophobic feeling. Also they were truly survival horror, not action semi-horror like some of the later instalments of the series. Damn, even the fact that you had limited save points and save slots were adding to the horror element, making you feeling way less safe! Seeing “Game Over” on your screen wasn’t necessarily meaning “retry the last minute or so”. For some this may seem as an unnecessary bother, but you had to take risks in order to spare save slots thus not saving every once in a while and the adrenaline was growing.

Other than the first 3, I liked a lot Code Veronica (please let that be one of the next remakes!) and Revelations 1 & 2, which felt closer to what I would expected for the series to evolve over the years, instead of some action oriented games.

I haven't played 0, 6, 7, or the 3 remake, but I like all the rest to varying degrees. Resident Evil 2 was one of the first games I played for the original Playstation, and it remains my favorite entry in the series. I sucked at it, though; my dad was the one who actually beat it. At least I made it through the remake with relative ease.

Now that I think about it, I'm astoundingly bad at survival horror games, despite being weirdly drawn to them. I've also somehow never beaten Resident Evil 1, despite owning the original, the director's cut, the remaster on GameCube, and the GC remaster on PS4...

I don't remember if it was 1997 or 1998 when I first got my hands on a copy of RE. Somebody gifted me the discs and a pad but no the box and I had no idea what the game was about. So I was just amazed with the introductory FMV cutscene, after being playing just "family oriented games" with low violence like AOE or CIV. As a gamer, the cutscene with the first zombie is one of my more indelible memories along with the surprise in that hallway, don't want to spoil anything, the creaking doors to load the screens and the VO welcoming you into the game: Resident Evil.

I think RE was what made me a regular gamer. RE2 perfected the first one. CV and RE3... not that good. I bought a Cube just to play Zero and I liked it.

R4 changed the formula but was such an amazing game, at the time it was revolutionary. And Leon is my favorite character of the whole series.

I can't speak about any others cause I'm yet to play them but RE is on my top 10 games of all time.

I have player 1, 2 and 3 in emulators in the past, but only managed to play 1-3 hours before leaving it, the first RE to finish was the 4, and currently i only own RE 4 and 5 in steam, as they are different playing styles i've set an objective: finish 4 and 5 in PC and then buy 0, 1, 2 and 3 and play those.

I've tried playing RE1 HD, but abandoned it about it about 30-40 minutes in: just couldn't adapt to heavily dated controls and fixed camera. RE2 Remake, on the other hand, was a lot of fun for the first playthrough; not a fan of how the second one is organized though. I'll just copy what I wrote in another thread yesterday:

We're supposed to go to the same places and do the same things with really small differences (accept for a second main character's chapter, of course), and two playthroughs contradict each other - we even get to see the same character die twice under a bit different circumstances. Basically, playing as Claire was utterly enjoyable (I even allowed myself to scream a bit and jump in my seat, apparently it's more fun this way)), playing as Leon - not so much (that is, except for additional characters' chapters: I like Sherry as an NPC, but not as a playable character - unlike Ada), everything was already way too familiar - but my OCD demanded that I reach true ending.

My favorite was Veronica, followed by 4 (Wii version is best), then 7

I don’t think 1 has aged well, but it’s been a while since I played it.
Can’t report on the remakes as I haven’t played them

Revelations 1 and 2 are ok, but not really worth the tine or money

0 and umbrella chronicles are garbage

Tried playing RE3 remake yesterday, but couldn't: apparently it's an awfully written boring shooter without even a hint of being actually scary.
