Curious about why people blacklist

i rarely blacklist. and you can get a blacklist for pretty much everything :D

as you're quite new, here, do not care. in a few months you'll understand how sg stuff works, and then, care for the few you may get, for good reasons.

I got blacklisted in my first week here as well don't know where it came from.

But probably it's all those free games you're giving away, I think some people still hate that, even now that it's allowed, I guess to some it might look like you're trying to pad out your games sent stat maybe, who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I normally only blacklist people who do something terrible like stealing (they admitted they stole the keys they give away on SG), being in neo-nazi and KKK groups (yep), being in support of ISIS (seriously wtf), etc. , though I have also blacklisted a few users who are level 0 with hundreds of unplayed wins.

I usually stick to blacklisting people for breaking rules (not activating their games, multiple wins, regifting wins, etc...). Sometimes for just being nasty to people on the forums. Like personal attacks, harassing someone, that sort of thing.

But don't let random blacklisting get to you. People do it for whatever reason crosses their minds. And really, there's thousands of active users and pages of giveaways to enter. A couple of black lists don't really matter much. Sometimes the people that do it don't even create giveaways, and if you do, they're only hurting themselves

Never blacklisted anyone

Simple, it's the internet and opinions run like water. Water that apparently people feel they need to drink even if they don't agree and then get upset and feel offended? Crazy right? Yep

Dont worry about it. It can be for anything. Maybe they dont like your name, profile pic, giveaway, etc. Chances are that you wont even see giveaways from the people who blacklisted you. When people blacklist you they also can't enter your giveaways, so they are really hurting themselves as well.

If it makes you feel better, I have 21 blacklists and I like to think of myself as a positive person who doesn't stir up to much trouble :P I hope you are enjoying the site regardless.

Do not be afraid to be yourself. If people disagree or do not like your ideas, they may blacklist you.

But, you cannot please everybody. I made a WL recruit post and got BL'ed, but I put a poll and a majority of the people told me to keep it open.

Adding to the possible reasons, it could be because of your profile pictures. And yes, some people are petty like that - you might get blacklisted for thousands of different reasons. Best not worry about it, you probably won't ever stumble across a giveaway you can't enter due to being blacklisted, unless you act in a really bad way in the community and piss off a lot of people simultaneously.

maybe you got to the list because you just won. Some in this way limit gifts for new people.

Can confirm what other people on here have already said - people with anime profile pictures seem to attract blacklists. You can be a very generous and nice person on here and it'll still happen anyway so even though it bothers me too (mostly because they never tell you what you did wrong?) there's no point in thinking about it.

Might be a ratio thing. Some people do insta-blacklists just hovering over the Real CV of your Won/Sent, and in your case, that's negative.

But hey, you've been playing A Hat in Time that you won, so keep that up and you'll be earning whitelists in no time :)

people will blacklist you for all kinds of reasons they can come up with.
you don't give away enough games, you give away the wrong games, you won a game somebody else wanted to win, you wrote your opinion about something and somebody didn't like it...
and the list goes on and on.

when i got my first blacklist i was kind of sad indeed since i didn't feel like i did anything wrong.
shortly after that i realized that all parts of the internet are mirrors of our real world. even steamgifts.
some people are just gonna be dicks because they want to be dicks. others think they can police the internet by putting you on some list because they didn't like your opinion about something.

most things in life are hidden somewhere between hilarious and pathetic. especially on the internet. and especially so the unimportant things.

As everyone has pointed out, you can get BLd for anything but this silly little thing shouldn't get to you. I'd say ignore it and enjoy your stay =D
