• A VOCALOID is a voice synthesizing program. You have to buy the program, anyone can use it to create songs (quite similar to Nightcore)

Well then, why are there like little girls then?

• Those are just models that were created for the song. It would be quite boring to just listen to a song and not see a person actually dance. It is also another way to portray art since many Artists come up with costumes along with the producers of the song itself.

Okay so I get this VOCALOID stuff, what is an UTAU?

• UTAU's are a different software than the VOCALOID synthesizer. UTAU projects are actually freeware (meaning anyone is free to download them). There are many different variations of UTAU's, though some are more popular (such as Teito)

So is that Miku girl the only VOCALOID?

• No, there is actually a list of VOCALOIDS that came first:
  1. Meiko Sakine (No Number)
  2. Kaito Shion (No Number)
  3. Hatsune Miku (01)
  4. Len Kagamine(02)
  5. Rin Kagamine (02)
  6. Luka Megurine (03)

There are others such as Lily, Gakupo, GUMI, etc. However they weren't part of the original few.
