Steam Family & Friends sharing new thingy.
I am scared to use it becauase of the last rule xD that people that own the library will be judged & even VAC banned if the sharing person uses h4x or trolls etc... :( that sucks xD . Why not make it so the one who is cheating/abusing gettin ban himself/herself? instead of the one who owns the games library -.- xD . Because those guys we would share it to have their own games,VAC games etc..

Because if they did it that way, hackers need only one copy of the game. They'd just keep loaning it out to new accounts, hacking, getting them banned, loaning it again.

That said, I think the current implementation is stupid. I can play multiple games at once from my own library, with no restrictions. Why can I not loan out a game to a housemate to play while I play something else from my account? I don't think I'll be using it in its current implementation.

I dislike it myself, but I understand why. One person with a large library means no one sharing with them needs to buy games again with that method.

This method allows you to share, but if you want constant access, you still need to break out your wallet.

i'm sure lots of stuff will change for family sharing as it gets closer to public release. the biggest problem i have with it is that it is machine based not account based, so since i live in pennsylvania, if i want to authorize my brother who lives in north carolina i would have to drive down there, log in, then authorize his pc by hand. OR i could call him up give him my account info and have him authorize it himself. but doing that goes against the steam agreement and can get your account permabanned.

it'd be much better if there was a box in the friends list that you could check saying "let this person play my games" you both fill out a captcha sent to your email, verify you have talked to eachother about it by using a steam guard code sent to the other person's email. that way it's secure and you dont have to give out login info.

also there are lots of bugs right now with saved games and if both people have the same game that they both independently purchased those games wont work.

like i said, a lot of work has to be done with it to be useful.
