Personally...My dad is getting sicker, his mental faculties are weakening due to his prolonged poor physical health, his elder brother died, and he has been under hospice care for 4 years. The furnace in my parent's house broke so they had to get a new one, my mom's car broke down and needed an engine overhaul, and her health is in decline.Thankfully they both have good insurance and that has not been affected by trumpco's immense cuts to Medicaid.
Nationally...We have a complete narcissistic ,egotistical, sociopath, racist, sexist, maniac for a president, we keep discovering more awful things done by people that occupied positions of authority, power,and respect, and mishandled a humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico largely because they weren't white enough for the aforementioned president and government to care about, most people not even realizing they're part of the United States.2017 is the deadliest year for mass killings in at least a decade.
Internationally...war continues apace, terrorism on all sides continues to claim lives and spread fear and disinformation, making entire countries of people hate one another.

Despite some of the doom and gloom, I rather enjoyed 2017. Got some important (adult) stuff accomplished and generally enjoyed life. I'm proud that I finally applied for my P.eng (professional engineering designation) after year and years...and years of pissing around.
Hope you guys had a good year. Feel free to share your stories of finally surmounting what you thought was an impossible obstacle.
