Hello
I need to do a research assignment and I need people to take a survey to get some data. The survey should take less than 4 minutes and is anonymous. Your help is greatly appreciated and you will be rewarded at the end :P

Survey:

Redeem you prize here:

At the end of the survey you will be given a secret code. Hold on to this because its the answer to the puzzle question. If I get enough data I will post another giveaway with a decent game.

Done. It was a nice survey, are you doing neuroscience or philosophy?
Or something completely different?

I feel most of the survey answers are lacking "most of the time" and "sometimes" options.

I've found that yes/no questions work better :P (Easier to comment on it)

It might be easier to perform data analysis, but isn't it undermining the precision of results?

I've done a few surveys. This specific one only has yes/no as answers. Afterwards I will compare the results.

Well, if this one already has a verified analysis scheme behind it, why not then, really. Good luck on your work then.

I had same issue when reading questions.
How ever we wanted to be, world in not black and white, nor are answers on those questions.
There is reason why most questionnaires use 5 tiered answer sheet.

I also found it lacking a neutral answer, at least 5ish of my answers would have been neutral. the results for me would be off.

I think the neutral answer is not a very good idea - it removes some polarity from the question - you get to sort of evade the question. Two milder, but still clearly positive or negative answers seem better to me. Although in the end it depends on the analysis the author is to perform.

That is one of the reasons I don't want neutral answers. If a large amount of the people don't give a "real" answer I don't really have data

Also if your forced to choose an answer you'll most likely choose the closest to what your real answer is. Ex if your positive most of the time and asked if you have a positive outlook on life and the only options are yes and no instead of saying most of the time you will say yes.

Well, it's not like that all the time. I, say, would consider a negative answer if can't completely agree with the positive one.
In terms of numbers (I assume you are doing statistical analysis afterwads) I assume you'd represent "Yes" as 1 and "No" as 0, but when a person answers he might assume "Yes" as 1, but "No" as "anything, but 1", which are two different cases you can not distinguish between with your current survey.
On the other hand, will this subtle difference cause any bias after a valid sample size is accumulated?

Maybe. Ill compare the results to the other surveys :P

Well, you'll still need a statistical analysis to make any conclusions and then you'll have to deal with numbers.

I think that "chemicals" is kind of vague since water is a chemical, and dehydration can make you loopy!

Permalink

Then you do indeed know the effect of chemicals on the body :D

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

True, but I think when you say "Chemical" most people will think of some form of medicine/toxic chemicals. Obviously not everyone knows the effects of every chemical, and certainly doesn't need to... Makes me curious as to what is the purpose of this question?

Luckily it's anonymous. If I may ask what did you find too personal? I got a few people to do it as a "test" and they all said it's fine

Asking about mental conditions, self-image, beeing sick etc. It feels weird when it gets to giving honest answers. Like I was stripping in front of people or something like that ^^

"no"

Make total sense. I think that only people with exaggerated self importance would answer 'yes' to the last one.
