When you enter a giveaway, and the person that is doing the giveaway never sends the game, do the people that entered that giveaway get the point back seeing as they are basically scammed out of them with a false chance at a game? Or is each giveaway not only a risk of not winning, but also no getting the gift and as a result pointless points are spent?

i have, as i am sure many of you do, pages of links to giveaways that have not bee received. Im just wondering what the entire processes is for failed or false giveaways.

And while on the subject of giveaways..... For the ones that are Forever Awaiting a response, it it a limitless amount of time they have to collect the win before another is picked? I have a few old giveaways i been watching is the reason i ask.

no. points are free, no need to refund something that is free and has no value.

There is no complex process for fake / deleted GAs - it's very simple - each Fake/Deleted GA takes away a GA slot from user. As new user starts with 3 GA slots - 3 GAs (or 1 for 3 copies) and he is blocked from creating any future GAs.

As for marking Gas - after 7 days of not receiving win winner can mark it as "not received" and move with his life.

the points have value, they are worth a chance to roll on a game. therefore your statement is invalid.

And thank you for letting me know there is no protection from false ones overall.

and as for "marking gas" they are not required to pick a new winner of the people in the draw? And does it still count to what they have contributed? (i can only assume not)

Also when i see "not received" the terminology to mean it indicates the posted never sent the giveaway, making it a false one all together.

to be clear, if the winner did not take the win, it should be labeled as "Gift not accepted" To be 100% clear that is was sent and the person ether did not use the key in the required time frame or did not give notice they intend to use it by marking it as received.

the points have no monetary value. They are regenerating free over time. You cannot buy them, you cannot sell them, they are not refunded, as refunds apply only to something that has actual value, not imaginary value. To enter GA you need not only points but also time - do you want SG to refund you your time as well, if GA ends up being fake?

As for protection of false GAs - how would you plan to implement it? There is no way of telling if Ga is fake or not until it ends. Also you're making it bigger problem that it really is. Less than 0.5% of overall GAs turn out to be fake or never received - introducing any system would punish creators of 99.5% valid GAs as well, as system would have to "assume" they GAs may be fake as well.

If you already sent the Ga to winner how can you request to draw a new winner?

Not marked or marked as "not received" or deleted GAs do not count towards Contributor Value.

If the winner never takes win, or never marks it - Ga creator can send proof that he sent it to support and support will mark it as received granting him CV, new GA slots etc.

As for sending keys - after key has been sent there is no way to tell if winner didn't notice it and never used it, or used it (for example on another account) but never marked it. So there's no way to tell if key is valid - hence it's not possible to pick up new winner. Because after picking him it may turn out that key is no longer valid.

if a giveaway entry fee is really important to you, you should check the profile of the creator before entering to it, you will easily spot when the giveaway have high chances of being fake. all the giveaways you linked are the proof of this.

The points have no value. /facepalm

Go to bed, come back to the site the next day -> all your points will be back up to a maximum of 300.

It should be noted that if they send a different game you are also supposed to mark as not received.

Happened to me once. They posted the giveaway for a specific game but sent some standalone DLC for it instead and after talking to them about it they had no intention of correcting the mistake (I wasnt out to be greedy just to be fair as I told them it wasnt the game they posted and I wanted to talk to them instead of just marking it as a no) which meant I had to mark it as not received according to the mods.

In this case, marking it as received might give yout problems yourself. As it will count as not activating a game on your account. So if you win a GA in the future, the creator of that might reroll based on the fact that he sees that you did not activate a previous win.

Also, at OP, are you really feeling that much entitled to these points? This site is not a lottery. If SG would decide to overhaul the points system completely tomorrow, delete the site altogether, or change their language to Chinese, it would be their complete right. This site is not a commercial entity of some sorts.

You don't 'invest' points, you can come here if you want to have a chance of winning a nice game, that some random dude (or gal) on the internet is willing to give to a complete stranger...

Complaining about points in any way, is like complaining about a free of whatever, by an individual, because it is not the flavour you would prefer to get free. Someone gave it to you. You are not entitled to anything.

In this particular case, it is the chance of winning something.

If you see this site as any form of investment, I think you are gonna have a hard time here. There are better places to spend your time and get a lot better 'return on investment' than here.

Nope, after the end too. I was a winner in a false giveaway that got deleted by a mod weeks after it had already ended.

the 1st one was a mistake as i was new to the site. And as for winning, there is a method. Its all math. its not a secret nether. if you are able to find me on steam and add me, or follow my group, i'll share the info. -for friends

finding your steam and group is an utterly trivial matter here :)

not like i care much about winning "methods" anyway, since they're almost always bogus :) if i win, i win; if not, c'est la vie, lol

Yeah, I find the fact that both of the OP's GAs are for free games just funny. As much as I would love to up my CV score, I would never stoop that low.

If that were the case you would likely find someone marking a received gift as not received to recoup points.

Is there any way to prevent that also?

If you can show proof you sent the gift (I always screenshot all my sent gifts), then you can get the mods to mark it the correct way.

Even if don't agree with what people say, i want you all to know that i do appreciate your time and effort to explain your points of view, and for that, i thank you all.

P.S. It dont need to be worth money to be worth something. If you feel that something requires a dollar amount to have value, i feel sorry for your family and friends because by that logic, unless you can get cash for them, they are worthless. (have not value)

val·ue

the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something. (not just cash)
