So I was checking Steam and got a number '0' instead of the usual open envelope for the notification area. Clicked on it and got this menu with a few more list items than usual. Check the image below.

Did anyone got this too? Sadly I changed the language to english so I could post thi screenshot here, but the menu got back to normal.
The last two items are the ones are new to me. In english it means "0 new pending turns" and "0 community moderation messages"

Am I nuts or those are new stuff?

Nothing extra for myself in client or browser.

Have you played one of those games with the email multiplayer type stuff? I know at least one exists on Steam.
Edit - Link of games which can do it.

nope. i'm not fond of multiplayer games so the odds are very low. As soon as i changed the language to english so i could get a decent screenshot the menu got back to the usual stuff. Got that screen only once.

delete your name on the top-right area, it's pretty important information.

there was a problem a month ago with some streamers in twitch, they got they accounts blocked because people were resetting their passwords using their log in names (yeah, valve doesn't warn people about that).

valve removed the reset-password page, but it's still sensitive information only you should know.

They can't see your account name, unless you show them.

In steam you have 2 names, one is name you use to login, that name is like password, noone should know that name.

2nd name, name you pick in profile editing is name that is visible to everyone, go to profile edit and edit name to use name that is different from login name.

Same with custom id, don't use custom id with you login name, put there something different some other name.

After you change this, you will still use ur same login name when you login to steam but that name won't be visible to anyone else, they will see your other name that you pick in profile option/editing,

Of course, even once you change it, people can still see your last known alias for a while, so that's not even quite a solution, unfortunately, and if you have this as your SG name then people could just go to your SG profile and find it that way.

Saw this two-three times, but always disappeared when I refreshed.
Seems like they are trying to add some new functions for later, but in usual Steam development manner they messed it up somewhere.

sigh I really wish valve put put less effort into trying to turn a game store into a facebook/Twitch/Google/snapchat/pinterest/whatever hybrid and just try to, you know, be a store. That functions. Without downtimes and connection errors. And with a support that actually does its job instead of sitting on a ticket for two months and closing it with a copy-paste answer. Because I'm pretty sure the large majority of the user base could live nicely without a built-in (and barely, if ever working) streaming feature in favour of stability and support.

+1 for that.
I don't mind the social network functionalities. Actually I've been more active in steam's and steamgifts' community than in my facebook account. But you're right: They should make sure the core works fine, and then start thinking about extra features.

I wouldn't particularly mind the social functions for a gaming community, but so far 'social' means a very old and not maintained forum engine that is so outdated that I think we could find engines that are free and offer more with easier use; and an ultra-minimalistic chat function which is tied to probably the most awkward friend system on the internet (well, among the active communities).
