I really waited for it but it is a let down. The discounts aren't as good as previous years' and it seems that the sale is getting worse every year... :(

I am crying :'(
Stop whining... >:/

After a few years on steam the sales stop being as exiting as they once were, also my backlog is so massive right now that I'm not even sure if I should buy more games... I'll probably will buy a few anyway.

This argument is used every sale these days. In a previous thread I went through the frequency of high discounts on front-page deals, and how they've changed over time (i'm not going to dig for that though), and the frequency has gone up considerably over time. What has changed more is you and your game library though. You're used to high discounts, they've steadily been going up over time, so seeing those 75% discounts mean very little to you these days, while 4-5 years ago, that was a big deal. The frequent steam sales, bundles and so on also means that you're quite likely to own the games you really want, and the ones you don't own, they're relatively new, so they won't go on major discounts.

"I remember when a 10% discount was a big sale!"

I dunno, I still maintain that we're far too used to bundles and amazing sales, so anything short of an orgasmic discount that actively shoves money back into our wallets seems 'bad'. It's kinda like how a certain slice of gamers become genuinely enraged that a title they liked 'only' got an 8 out of 10.

Meh. Pretty much my entire wishlist is on sale and is synchronised to a big holiday. It's perfect for gifting, and will let me grab a few titles I wanted to play for my paid week off work. The discounts are sizeable. Expecting miracle 50%+ off titles released less than 5 minutes ago will always result in disappointment :P

Honestly, there are some pretty good deals, at least for me there are. I guess it all depends on what it is you're looking for. Personally, I found a couple of games I wanted that I didn't find cheaper anywhere else, at least not yet. Of course, none of them are AAA games but for those, I usually wait a year or two before I buy them for $10-15 anyhow.
