Ahoy SteamGifters!

I have a private GA for Ron Gilbert et al's latest point & click adventure game - Thimbleweed Park™ - and I'm looking for level 2+ SG users to enter it. However, I'd really like to see it get played, so what I'm going to ask is for potential entries to nominate themselves by commenting on this discussion and explain why you should get a chance to win Thimbleweed Park™. It might be links to achievement stats for other completed point & click adventure games or with evidence of lots of playtime in other point & click adventure games (since many of the originals don't have achievements).

Please make it as easy as possible for me to check your assertions (i.e. for completed games, link to the achievement stats page for your Steam account, for playtime just link to your games list). I will NOT count any hidden object games (HOGs) or Telltale/Life is Strange type games towards your cause - they aren't really point & click adventures, sorry. If you pass my checks, I will send you a link to the GA via Steam - so please keep an eye out for a friend invite!

The GA closes at 12:30pm on Saturday 7th April.

(If you're a member of Actually Playing Games, please check the giveaways thread in the group forum to skip this check!)

Edit 1: the first bundle of friend requests and GA links have gone out -.if you haven't received anything but you didn't provide much information, then don't despair - just add a new comment with more details (given the above caveats) and I will reconsider your application.

I'm a huge adventure fan as you can guess from my profile picture :) The Longest Journey saga, Broken Sword series, Monkey Island series, Syberia, Book of Unwritten Tales, Grim Fandango,(+ all LucasArts adventure games lol), etc. etc. I'm more of a fan of story-rich games in general, i dont just only love point and click ones but also love other genres such as interactive stories, 3d adventure games (Dreamfall!), visual novels etc. You can check my profile, i play story-rich games and review them in my group (soon will become curator). But i have just started reviewing, so there are DOZENS of missing games. Also most of my adventure games have wrong play times, i played most of them without internet connection.

My Profile: http://steamcommunity.com/id/sirlegar

My Curator: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/sirlegar
-> LOTS of new reviews will come. I finish at least one story-rich game a week and review it.

i am a huge fan of point and click adventure games, one of my oldest gaming memories is playing hollywood monsters from a demo disk, i am not much of a completionist but i completed life is strange and the gabriel night remake and also detective grimoire

the blackwell saga is one of my favorites, i own almost all Wadjet eye games(except shardlight, emerald city and puzzle bots) and i've played all of them but 2.

i played every classic lucas arts game (well the point and click ones) and grim fandango is one of my favorite games ever (sadly i havent played the remake but i have it installed to play it). maniac mansion was one of the first full point and click adventures i played (i think the first one was Igor: Objective Uikokahonia)
also i own lots of games and my backlog is huge but i am playing the most i can so i can complete my backlog, and this game will be the first in my list. (BLEAO user word of honor :P)

this is my games list

I've heard about this game yesterday and instantly wishlisted it!
Well my stats on Steam are not really relevant (http://steamcommunity.com/id/hommecrabe/games/?tab=all), since I've been playing a lot of adventure games on CD. It's definitely my favorite type of games. My first one was Versailles in 1996. Here is an exhaustive list of all the games I've finished so far (I keep all the savegames in a single folder, that's why I'm able to remember them):

  • Cryo games: Versailles, Egypte, Chine, Aztec, Pompei
  • LucasArts games: the Monkey Island quadrilogy, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max, Grim Fandango, Indiana Jones & The Fate of Atlantis
  • the Broken Sword quadrilogy
  • the Runaway trilogy
  • The Longest Journey
  • Daedalic games: Deponia Trilogy, A New Beginning, Dead Synchronicity, Edna & Harvey's New Eyes, Fire, Journey of a Roach, The Whispered World
  • Telltale games: Back to the Future, Sam & Max Season 1 & 2, Wallace & Gromit
  • Wadget Eye games: the 5 Blackwell, Gemini Rue, The Shivah, Primordia, Resonance
  • some old games: Ceville, Farenheit, In Memoriam 1 & 2, Still Life 1 & 2, The Westerner, Tony Tough
  • some indie games: Samorost 2, Machinarium, Botanicula, Dropsy, Detective Grimoire, Her Story, Jolly Rover, Kaptain Brawe, Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded, Lilly Looking Through, Lumino City, The Cat Lady, The Dream Machine, The Inner World, The Journey Down Chapter 1 & 2, Windosill

Good lord, now that I'm done, that's quite a list! And next I'm going to play Anna's Quest, The Next Big Thing, Yesterday, Gray Matter and Dreamfall.
I can send you a zip with all my savegames, if you'd like ;) In the meantime, here is a screenshot of my savegames folder, for what it's worth: http://i.imgur.com/sbKE6nr.png
Thanks for the opportunity!

I love old point & clickies, even made a quiz about them a while back. I've also played most of the Wadjet Eye games, a lot of Daedalic games, as well as plenty of stuff by less prolific studios. My astats page.

Generally a fan of HOG's, I've played several games in the point & click genre. Feel free to roam around my Steam profile for any number of HOG games, however I'll mention a few Point & Click games, some I can prove, some I can't.

Other then that and a bunch of HOG's that I won't spam you with, back in the day I've played Monkey Island games, Longest Journey and some of, if not most of the Broken Sword games. I really loved all of them, but it's been a long time since I've played them.

Thanks for reading! And thank you for the event :)

When I saw that it was by the creators of Maniac Mansion, I had to put it on my wish list. One of the best games ever! Of course I want to play it. 🙂 Also, for what it's worth, I just completed 100% achievements in Botanicula and will be doing the same for Day of the Tentacle (the sequel to Maniac Mansion)

I'm a huge fan of point & click adventures. It's actually my very favourite game genre :)
Through my gaming life I've played plenty of those. To name a few I haven't played on Steam: Beneath a Steel Sky, Sam & Max Hit the Road, Hopkins FBI, the whole Monkey Island serie (except the one from Telltales), every Broken Sword game, Grim Fandango and many Wadjet Eye titles.

Here are some adventures I fully or almost beaten on Steam:
Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP
The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead: Season Two
The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav
Memoria
Game of Thrones - A Telltale Games Series
Fran Bow
The Wolf Among Us
Deponia
A Golden Wake

Hope I qualify ^_^
Thanks for promoting Thimbleweed Park! Steam deserves more point & click adventures :D

I'm not sure about being able to show achievements on Steam but I know the difference between Chuck the plant and throw baby (May Manny guide his soul to the fast train), can let you know that "Ken sent me" (Before him and Foster got to meet in Union City), know the difference between Raoul Dusentier and Laura Bow (She knows what a sonic screwdriver is), saw when the current King of Daventry was called Grahame, miss Murray's encouragement (Although I'm not putting my lips on that!), remember when Manhunter was seen as too gory, reckon Passionate Patti ran off with Roger Wilco and the missing floppies (Which Bosco sold to them as well as the rights to SOTE to Zak McCraken) and got into this whole situation because a Grue was going to eat me until I had to "Bite lip" to get out of the scenario.

Here's my TellTale profile but no badges yet (I've still to play the games I have with them on Steam).

I'm more than happy to be considered but just wanted to flex my decades worth of appreciation for the genre.

Thanks for letting me know about Thimbleweek Park though, I hope to look into it at some point in the future now that I'm aware of it.
